:confused3 On our last night at Disney they have two showings of Fantasmic, one at 7 and the other at 9, do you think it is possible for us to attend the 7 show and make it back for Illuminations? I would skip Fantasmic this trip but my husband really wants to see this show again but also doesn't want to miss Illuminations so I thought we would try to do both in one night..do able or not?

You should be able to do it if you leave MGM immediately following Fantasmic! and either take the boat or walk to the International Gateway of EPCOT. Fantasmic! should be over by 7:30 and that gives you 1½ hours to get to EPCOT to stake out a spot for IllumiNations. Don't be surprised if a lot of other people have the same plans.

HINT: Leave the handbags, camera bags and backpacks behind so that you can skip the security line and head straight for the turnstiles.

We do this several times each WDW trip.

As stated, the boat takes about 30 minutes to get to Epcot but ADD to that the "waiting with the crowd" time at the dock before boarding.

If you choose to take the walk-way, that takes about 15-25 minutes depending on your pace.

You must ALSO take into account the 20+ minutes it takes to SLOWLY walk with that huge crowd from Fantasmic! all the way back to the front gate to EXIT at MGM.

We've made it from 7pm "Fantasmic!" to 9pm "IllumiNations" on time (with a bit to spare) on many occasions.
I have it on our itinerary again in January.

I agree that you should have no problem getting to Epcot for Illuminations. I would skip the boat unless there is one there already loading. The walk from the Studios to the Epcot International Gateway is about 20-25 minutes. The boat is around 30-35 minutes but you have to add in wait time if one is not there. Just keep walking with the water to your left and the parking lot to your right after you exit the Studios. This walkway will take you to the Boardwalk and continues to Epcot.

Much easier to pull off without kids or adults who can't walk quickly.

Two healthy twenty or thirty something adults, ue. You can get out of Fantasmic quickly, manuveur the crowds quickly, skip the boat if there is already a line, and walk.

Traveling with a six year old who needs a rental stroller after a long park day and grandma, who should be having her hip replaced in the next year or so - not likely.

I Like to run to Epcot......but then again, I like to run. I wouldn't try it with a group......only solo.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have learned something I didn't even realize! You can walk from MGM to Epcot! I did not know this but then again two years ago was the first time we had gone to MGM so neither myself or husband knew about this walk. Exactly where is this path located at? Walking won't be a problem for us, even though we are both in that middle age group, we both are in pretty good physical condition and can easily do the walk even at a faster pace.

You shouldn't have a problem...a piece of advice....sit towards the back at Fantasmic so you can get out faster and head towards EPCOT.

Have a magical trip! :cheer2:

As you exit the Studios just keep on walking with the water to your left and the parking lot to your right. This path continues on to the Boardwalk area....takes about 7-10 minutes to reach the outside limits of the Boardwalk. Then you can continue past the Boardwalk which will be on your right. You will come up to the ESPN club and then cross over a bridge. Turn right at the bottom of the bridge and you are almost at Epcot.
Once you reach the Boardwalk you also have the option of going left over the bridge to the Swan/Dolphin. Once on the bridge you will take the path to the Yacht/Beach clubs and away from the Swan/Dolphin. You will now be on the other side of the water with the Boardwalk across the way. Either walk, via the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach clubs will take you on to the Epcot International Gateway.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this and I don't know when you are going but the calendar for December shows Illuminations at 9:30 so that would give you and extra half hour! :cool1:

Off subject alert. . .

Dustin, you did get lucky, that's a great pic. B'rer Rabbit is rare.

Okay, I'm going to sound really lazy with my suggestion, but here goes.....we always walk to the taxi stand at the end of the bus loading area, grab a taxi to the Beach Club at a cost of $6 (takes about 10 minutes) We then walk through the BC lobby and head over to International Gateway at Epcot. This makes for a much more leisurely trip at the end of a long day of walking, walking, walking. Also, leaves time for a stop to get a drink or to use the facilities before Illuminations starts.

Thanks for the directions, we are going in March so Illuminations is still at 9:00. We will walk it, any chance I get I try to walk, I figured the more I walk in Disney the more food I can eat!
