We are potentially visiting the world in August, is it possible on MDE to have 2 active room reservations? We are will have our own room only booking and also be listed on my parents room booking due to their ticket deal, will MDE allow this? or will we have to have 2 magic bands on separate accounts?

It won't matter if you DO have multiple MagicBands.
Each and every MB connected to you, can be used by you at any time during your trip.

There are many guests who have over a dozen MBs, and any and ALL of the MBs will work at the same time.

If you have multiple magic bands, you will need to have the resort activate all the needed bands at check-in. While multiple bands will work throughout the park, the bands have to be activated individually to have resort and CC access.

Not necessary to even stop at the check in desk anymore. If you have the magic bands sent to your home and check in online you will get a text that your room is ready including the room number. I got my text when I had a layover in DC. The text included my room number and a map of the resort. When I landed in Orlando I got on the magical express using my magic band, got off at my resort, walked straight to my room to drop off my bag, walked to the water taxi, and headed to Disney Springs. That was in January. First time I did that and it worked like a charm.
Used my magic band to get dinner there too. Never went to the lobby desk any time during my stay. Got my check out receipt via email to my phone.
Slick! So, no! the front desk never has to touch your magic band.

Nope.

Agreed.

No. As far back as a year ago, I checked in online and was texted my room number while I was in route. I used my old magicband (ones they sent never left the box) to open resort gate and open my resort room. Also allowed me to charge to room. Never saw lobby or front desk.

OP - I have had multiple hotel bookings on MDE at same time and I have over a dozen MB on my account. I can switch out each day to different one.

I understand that op can have multiple MB, but since she is technically assigned to 2 different rooms, it gets confusing.

I am thinking that the parents got free dining or a similar deal. Adding Op and her spouse to that room means free food for all.

I am thinking that if your parents use their address for all 4 of you for their room under their MDE account

Then you use your own address and your own MDE account for your room

Don't link the accounts. Keep your room completely separate.

Your Room only Mb will open your door, but won't have your tickets,FP or dining credits

Your MB under your parents account will open their door, will have your tickets, FP and dining credits

I don't have anything to add to the above responses, but I'm really curious what kind of "ticket deal" your parents have to make this worth the hassle of having two reservations. Care to share?

I have a bunch of old bands, all the bands work for my new reservation? What about finger scan is that already on my old and new bands? I never understood how magic bands work.

For our wedding I had hubby listed with his parents on their room so he could easily access to sleep there the night before the ceremony. I also listed myself on their last room as they were at Beach Club and I wanted access to their pool (and they were under the limit for guests) we had no problems at all both being listed on more than one reservation simultaniously... though on our last night our bands decided to charge back to his parents' room instead of ours. No big deal we just paid them the cash.

Nothing is ever "put onto" any of your MagicBands.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.
Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each
additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.

So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person, but their entitlements will all be common and identical.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.

The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.

Yes all the bands will work on your new reservation. The finger scan works too.

Thank-You so much for explaining all this to me, I never understood it until now. My daughter was getting out our old bands to take with her and I said they wouldn't work, boy was I wrong! She is wearing an old red one but it has my name inside and that is why I asked about the finger scan because I just told her she can take the old ones but she has to wear the ones with her name on them.
Thank-You for the info.

I just booked a adr for BOG lunch for May 4th sine I couldn't get a reservation for two I booked for one in hopes that they will seat both of us. what are my chances? aren't the tables for one the same size as the two tops?

Many (most?) tables at BoG are 4-6 tops.

Try to book another single. During lunch you just order at the computer screen, pay, find your own table anywhere, and sit together. They give you these plastic "roses" that are locator beacons that help the cast member deliver your food to the table. You get your own silverware, napkins, and drinks. Just like at all counter service locations. Then wait for your food to arrive on a cute little serving cart. You can even order your food before you get there to get in the preorder shorter line to confirm and pay. The time doesn't have to match up perfectly for your other single reservation. It can be 15 min off. We did this for breakfast twice. We did have to use our own names, MY DISNEY EXPERIENCE accounts, and credit cards though, so that the quirky system wouldn't cancel the first reservation because the computer thinks you're times are overlapping. You can call if you can't do it online.

Thanks for your help everyone, my parents have free dining (I couldn't think of the name when I wrote the thread originally sorry), I have several decorated magic bands from previous trips so will add my dining to that account and create a new account for just our room

Does anyone know if your finger scan resets each trip? I am headed to disney in a few weeks and I broke my right index finger the one saved on file. Can I just use a different finger on my first day?
