[As far as whether or not they'll leave an appropriate tip, since it's a buffet, you can figure out the tip ahead of time and tell them how much to leave - easy!
Even if it wasn't a buffet its not hard to figure out the tip-- I taught my daughter before she was 7 how to tip and now its even easier since she has a cell phone--- there is a tip calculator in there and she puts in the amount of the bill and then 20 percent and it tells her exactly how much to tip! It even has a feature where she can input the amount, tip and then the number of people so she and her friends know exactly how much each of them has to kick in.
