So I am super excited!! We have decided to go to WDW for my DD's 7th b/day which is in July (we normally go September). She is wanting to have her b/day there and we thought we'll surprise her next year. We own at BLT, but only want to spend 2 nights there and spend the rest of the week at AKV. We don't plan to do the parks this year - we just want to chill at the resorts/shopping etc. But, we do want to take DD out for dinner on her b/day. So, my question is, can I get the DDP for just one day? Do we have to make another reservation for doing this?? Or it is easier to just pay out of pocket for this?

This is probably the 1st of many questions I have until I get this whole DVC thing in my head.

My understanding is that when you get the DDP, you have to do it for the length of the reservation and for the amount of people on the reservation. If you took it for your two days at BLT, then you would have to take the DDP for two nights ( unless by "2 days" you mean just one night? ). It works by number of nights.

hope that helps.

Xipetotec is correct you must purchase based on the number of nights per stay. BLT and AKL would be two separate stays, but keep in mind all credits expire at midnight of checkout day. So it sounds like at a minimum you will need to get the DDP for two days.

If you are planning on taking most your meals in your room (ie groceries) it may be most cost effective to just pay for the celebration meal.

If you do a split stay, you can do the DDP for part of the stay. We did that in August.

We did 2 nights at BWV on the QSDP, 2 nights at BLT on the DDP, and then 3 nights at VWL on the QSDP.

In your case, you could get it for the 2 nights at BLT and do 2 TS meals and then not get anything for the time at AKV.

Good luck!.

As noted, you can get it for one stay or the other (BLT or AKV) but must get it for the entire number of nights for the given reservation. IMO, this can be one of the better ways to get the DDP.

If you dont want the DDP and you live in the PA,OH area near a Giant Eagle you can buy gift cards and get fuel perks now. That would get you some cash back for those meals. We plan on paying for our whole trip that way and get $7oo in free gas with the double fuel perks offer.:cool1:

We never do the DDP but my first thought was to be sure you realize that you can't plan any meals at the parks just bcuz you get the DDP. You'd still have to buy park tix to get in, even just for a meal. You could only eat at DTD or the resorts. Not sure if that's worth it but it depends on where you want to eat.
