We wanted to change the dates of our vacation so I called the reservations number and gave them the new dates. Before I could even ask about a code or AAA discount she puts me on hold to check the availability. When she comes back she immediately gives me a price quote. I ask about codes/AAA. She checks then says there's nothing for club level (which is what we want). That's fine, whatever. Well then she tells me to hang on because it looks like the availability disappeared. Sure enough she tells me that while she was checking if there was a code/discount someone else grabbed the last club level room.

All the while this is happening, I'm sitting on the disney reservations site as well and I keep pulling up club level for the dates we want. She tells me that the system must have a glitch in it because there's no club level left. She asks me if I went through and confirmed it online, which of course I didn't because I'm on the phone with her. She says that when I try to confirm it, it will tell me there's nothing available. I asked how that could be because in the past, if there was no availability for the dates I searched then that resort just didn't come up as an option. Again she said it was a glitch.

Getting fed up with her attitude, which she had from the beginning, I hung up with her. Now originally I just wanted to switch the reservation because I had already put a big payment down and wanted it to count towards the new dates, but we really wanted the new dates so I went ahead and tried online. Sure enough, it went through fine and I got my confirmation number for my new reservation (although I had to make a new payment).

Does anyone know if it's possible that there's some rooms set aside for online booking only? Or was the CM I talked to just an idiot? In the end I had to call back and luckily got a SUPER nice CM who cancelled my old reservation and helped me with some things on my new one.

I am curious to hear an answer to your question.

Yes I have found that to be true - a few years ago we wanted Poly concierge for a quick weekend trip and called and called and also checked the website regularly -- I was able to find it on the website when it was not available through a phone call.

There is a different block for online bookings and phone bookings. They pull from a different block of rooms depending on how you are making reservations. There are also different blocks for AAA rates, discounts codes, etc. If you call and ask for AAA it may be sold out but regular rates are available.

last sept. we were looking to stay at the wilderness lodge and i kept signing on and the website said sold out,but i called and they had some ( we never got to stay there though)

Just make sure you read the fine print carefully.
Sometimes the online bookings have different cancellation policies.
For example, Disney via phone is 5 days prior to arrival, while online it could be 30 to 45 days prior, depending upon resort.

I had that same exact thing happen with AKL CL. I booked a second trip online and cancelled my origonal trip. Some dates were blocked over the Thanksgiving holiday to them but not online. It didnt make sense to me either but I got my room in the end so all was good.

I will tell you that in my experience that there are times when I have been on the phone with a CRO CM and get one price and availability when something different is showing on-line. I'm not sure if there is one availability for online reservations and one for call ins or what but I have gotten two different answers depending on where I'm checking.
