I have 2 in my travel party who will be leaving a few days early. They have a flight booked departing at 6:00pm. That morning the rest of us are going to IoA (sshh) They would like to join us so would it be possible for them to check in their bags and get boarding passes early morning then return back to resort to hop on DME bus back to airport? Or even, just take a taxi directly from IoA to airport? TIA:confused3

As long as they are staying at a Disney resort and have reserved a DME 'seat' for a trip back to the airport, yes, they can do that.

If they're staying a Disney resort, they can utilize RAC (check luggage @ resort).

As Sam already said...as long as they are actively listed on a WDW resort reservation on their day of departure, they can use RAC to check their bags in the morning, and then use DME to get back to MCO. But they have to have a reserved spot on that bus. That can be done the day you checkin.
Here's the thing....not sure how you're planning on getting to IoA. If they have to take a cab back to WDW to get the bus, it may make more sense to just get a cab right to MCO. With a 6pm flight, they would be picked up between 2:45 and 3:15. Which means they would have to be at the resort by 2:30 (basically 15 mins prior to the pickup time) all ready to get on the bus. that would mean leaving IoA by 2. If they went directly to MCO from IoA, they could leave at 3:30ish.

Yes, they are staying on at Disney Resort with us. We will have a rental car but we plan on staying at IoA. You're right, I will recommend they take a cab directly to airport so can spend some extra time at park. Thanks for the info!

It's worth noting that RAC and DME are actually two separate entities, so you do not have to use DME to use RAC. (Sometimes folks get confused because you have to ride DME in order to use the luggage service you arrive (MCO to WDW), but it's different when you're leaving.) They can check their bags using RAC and then take a taxi to MCO from IoA.

Thanks,I did not know they were separate :thumbsup2

Anyone staying at a resort, and departing on a participating airline is able to use RAC at their resort. It makes no difference how they are returning to MCO.....they can take DME, they can use a rental car or they can take a cab or car service. And you don't need to anything other than just show up during operating hours....5am-1pm. But, you have to be done checking in no less than three hours prior to flight departure. This means that if you have a flight time earlier than 8:30am, it's going to be almost impossible to use RAC. You need about 15 mins to complete the process
Then, as far as DME is concerned, you have to have an exiting reservation in order to get on the bus back to MCO. But that can be made the day before you want to ride the bus. Just give them 24 hrs notice.
