Okay now I need to test this.
c'mon now kids - isn't there a board just for testing?
(couldn't resist!)

Test? I forgot to study.![]()

If this is a test, there is a whole lot of copying going on.![]()

scottishduffy:
"Sooooooo, now we just copy and paste the text without using the quote function!
Ahhh, Thanks for the heads up!
I quoted a response and then replied. The person then changed their original post to say "never mind" and now my response looks like I am talking to myself or have lost my mind since no one knows what I am talking about!
I don't think this new thing is a good thing.![]()
I think they changed their post at the time your were quoting.
That's what I was going to ask.
Did they edit it as you were quoting them or did you actually post the quote and then later on it disappeared?

Anyone can edit a quote, I do it all the time to correct spelling errors...![]()

Except there really was nothing snarky about the post at all, I don't know why a mod would have gotten involved. Was your post edited by a mod? That would explain it.
That is what I am thinking. Even though as I was typing the message I could see on my screen what the person had posted, perhaps before I hit the submit button that she changed up her post and so the "reference" that the system used to post was then different from what I had originally started with. It is the only thing that makes sense to me.I think they changed their post at the time your were quoting.

In all the years I have never seen this happen so I am really hoping it was a fluke.

It will really mess up the New Rule and these Nevermind posts when the Mods change the quote to something like this:Don't you just love the Mods & WMs here on the DIS?My favorite Mod is lovetoscrap. She works so hard. I think we all should send her a GC to her favorite scrapbooking site.
WMKathy has such a cute doggie in her siggie. We should send her organic dog biscuits for her pooch. . ."

and it displays it as the quote. You can put anything you want within bounds of the quote tag
PLEASE!!! Do not go giving the Mods this idea.It will really mess up the New Rule and these Nevermind posts when the Mods change the quote to something like this:
They could really mess with us if given this idea.![]()
