Is this lamp worth anything?

It was in my shed when I bought my house and I have kept it thinking it might be worth something. Does anybody have any knowledge in stuff like this?

Doubt it, it is circa 1978, my Mom had those when we were kids. I would clean it up and toss it in a garage sale for a buck or two. DH and I had those lamps as part of our first year of marriage--we were flat broke and got all of our furniture from that luxury store known as "Mom's Basement". How sweet the early 90's were in retro 70's decor!

Why are these postings out of order?

What a flash back. When my DH and I got married, my parents gave us all their old furniture--to include a set of lamps exactly like these. We kept them for a few years until we could afford new ones. WOW, they were ugly :rotfl: Sorry. They had these very narrow/tall velvety orangy shades.

You could always keep them a few more years. You never know, they could be worth something then but for now I think a couple of dollars would work.

Good Luck

My mom had some of those too, they're long gone. I would think a couple dollars max, they aren't quite old enough to be Retro.

No offense taken. This was the previous owner's lamp and she was in her 80's. I think it is ugly too, but sometimes the ugliest things are worth big $. I also found a Georgia Tech 1937 yearbook and 40ish ones from the Citadel and Midshipmen. I'm going to try and find out if they are worth anything.

Too bad the lamp isn't something truly vintage/collectible. It's always fun to make money on *found* objects. LOL

One small hint, as you're looking through this shed of yours don't discount the small seemingly inconsequential items. I've sold a single old 5 dollar poker chip for several hundred dollars, an old Disney pin that looked worthless for close to $300, a single piece of paper ....it was a shopping list from the late 1890's for $100.......you'd really be surprised how much the things you'd normally throw away are worth! Have fun digging in the shed!! That's my idea of a good afternoon! :cool2:

I had already cleaned the shed out years ago. These were the few things I though MIGHT be worth something. There were actually so many pictures and personal letters and such from the 40's and 50's that I lost count. Sadly, the owner was in a nursing home with dementia and her daughter was estranged from her. The realtor tried for 6 months to get her to at least come take a look, but she refused. The pictures were disposed of and it made me so sad! I don't know what I could have done though, since I don't even have space to store my own stuff.

The other things I saved were an old fryer, a kitchen scale and a bunsen burner from the 40's and 50's. And there was a cribbage board without the pegs.
