Is this guy for real?

Some guy named Will Allen III claims in his blog to be a "30 year veteran of world travel," yet his most recent entries are a rant that no one warned him that WDW parks are chaotic over the Christmas holidays.

He also is chock-a-block with other misinformation, such as that the chaos continues right through Easter, that taxis can't access the TTC, that EMH is only for guests at Disney deluxe resorts, that "Pirates of The Caribbean Cruise" does not use Fastpass because it is "so popular," etc.

Is this guy for real? Or is someone parodying clueless guests again?

Visit http://www.allenontravel.blogspot.com/ and either laugh or cry.

He's discovered that travel is not as simple as, say, sitting at home watching TV.

And he gets his "inside scoops" on WDW from talking with a Mears bus driver.

This guy is a real PRO.

;)

This "good seasoned flyer" only just discovered that he could print out Southwest boarding passes from home? And yeah, I own't even start on the misinformation. lol

Perhaps his 30 years of seasoned travel include every time he read a travel book, saw a travel poster, or had a fleeting thought about where he'd like to go next? I've been traveling without parental control for 20 years now (admit it, Mom and Dad take care of 99% of it all when you're a kid) and can't imagine going *anywhere* with the complete lack of research this guy did - and I *like* traveling by the seat of my pants.

At least a couple of people pointed this out ot him in the comments.

I replied to his "blog".

You sir, are an idiot. Obviously you did little to no preplanning for your trip to WDW. Just a *little* research would reveal that Christmas/New Years is *THE* busiest time of the year for them. They do nothing to deceive the public. Hopefully this trip report is a quirk and the rest of your blogs are done with a more research. Otherwise, I feel bad for anyone that takes your advice seriously.

subscribing so I can read this article after breakfast. I am doing laundry today and need a good laugh.

I have a SIL (actually, I have 8 of them...oh joy) who just discovered that you can print out boarding passes at home when she visited us in November.

She has been around the world and lived in a Third World country during her Peace Corps days.

Trust me when I say that she would be completely glueless about visiting WDW, despite 45 years of travelling as an adult, on her own, to both well-known tourist destinations and remote corners of the world. She has always been a "seat of the pants go with the flow" traveler. :rotfl: She considers learning as you go to be part of the experience. She hasn't had too much trouble so far, so I guess it works...for her. ;) (I, on the other hand, would be a nervous wreck- I don't like surprises.)

I come across people like this all the time, for some reason they think they dont need to plan. I mean I have never gone anywhere without some level of planning . I spent 2 hours online reseaching a day trip to hershey park that only cost us a bout $60. I can imagine not investing time planning something as expensive as a Christmas week disney trip.

LOL. But, see, she isn't blogging about being a seasoned traveler and then complaining about it. Big difference. I've done backpacking trips across Europe where the next destination was decided by dropping a pencil on a map and seeing where it landed, so I know that the right personality can really enjoy that sort of travel. BUT, when we jumped in with both feet and encountered a problem, we rolled with it. We didn't blame all of Europe for it, either. :lmao: If this sort og thing was important to this blogger, he's been around the block enough to have been able to figure out how to get information. He didn't and now he wants to blame the destination. :sad2:

Ah well. One less family in line ahead of us.

I see what you mean. And no, she wouldn't complain in her blog, because I'm not sure she knows what one is. :rotfl: We also taught her how to "google" when she was here. She does use email, but only checks it about once a week. She considers her computer a giant word processor...or maybe even a typewriter. ;) She is by no means an idiot(has her PhD), but just isn't technologically savy.

Yeah, there's a world of difference between the two. :-) Your SIL happens to be on one side of the sensible line and this blogger is on the other, tech-savvy or no. If I had to choose a travel partner, I'd choose her over him without blinking........

This guy is an idiot! I like the part of his blog where he suggests that WDW take reservations for guests to come into the park! That is a great idea. Only Disney would have to let all the guests staying on site in first and we know that would start some serious complaints! Reading this blog is almost comical!

I took issue with his two most recent blog postings. The guy is an idiot. Maggie

The doofus hasn't even figured out that the Hilton is NOT owned by Disney and their people are not CMS. What a moron!!!!!

I feel sorry for him, if he had no idea how rabid WDW fans were before, he sure does now. ;)

I like the comment by Joshua Katt about having a PHD to plan a top dollar Disney vacation. Who would spend that kind of money and not do some sort of planning! I mean come on, do you think the more you spend the easier your vacation will be.

OK...I agree with the general public on this one....the guy is an idiot. :sad2: What got me is that he waited till like what? 2 days B4 their trip to get airline tickets. DUH! I dont fly and even I know not to do that. JEESH! If I did wait I certainly wouldnt complain about the price.

This guy has "Part III" up on this blog...:sad2:

Also, all the comments from Part I and II seem to be missing (at least I can't find them)....

I guess the "travel expert" couldn't handle the negative comments?!? :confused3

Ok, I got to the part where he said he pitched a fit to get an upgrade and I had to stop. These are the people I hate being behind when waiting in a line.

The day after Xmas at a family vacation destination and he is suprised that all the good rooms are booked already. Dont most people make their plans like a year ahead of time, if I don't make mine at least 6 months ahead of time I don't expect to find much in the way of openings.

I think he needs to stick with his other "World" Travels and leave the magical world of Disney to us.

I noticed that this morning. He had comments for all three of his days so far and all were gone, even the great one I left on the day two report. I guess he just couldn't handle the truth about his so called travel expertise being called into question!

I am the Maggie that posted all the replies to his blog. I noticed yesterday that the comments were missing. There were a couple of replies inspired by my comments that were getting a bit heated. I think that he may have trashed the comments due to the tone that it was starting to take. Oh well, at least we got our points across to him. I do hate it that someone might read his blog and feel that WDW is really THAT bad. Maybe his readers will learn from his mistakes and do their homework. Maggie
