Is this going to be a hassle?

If I stay one night at either the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier and am planning on switching to the Sheraton Park Hotel the next morning, do you think it's not worth the hassle? Does anyone know about how long the taxi ride would be between the two, and how much might it cost?

Thanks so much for the help. I'm trying to make an important hotel decision, and the amount of hassle involved in switching hotels is the factor that will help me make the final decision.

Personally, I can't imagine switching hotels. Especially after just one night. One night in a hotel is a pretty limited amount of time. YOu more then likely wouldnt even get to enjoy many of the amenities. By time you check in at 4 pm, then out again at 11 the next morning- thats not much time and most of it is sleeping! But, we like to use most of our time in the area at the parks. So, the hotel is not that important to us.

As for the cab ride, I can't imagine it being more then about $10.

Actually, we arrive extra early (8:55 a.m.), so, if our room isn't ready for an early check in, we'd ask the hotel to stash our luggage while we head to the parks. Isn't that a possibility? Basically, we'd stay at a Disney hotel for one night simply to experience what it's like to stay on property at Disneyland & to get us closer to the parks for the day. Do you still not think it's worth it? Anyone else want to put in their two cents' worth?

We are doing it - but sorta backwards - we are staying at Carousel Inn for one day and then switching to GC - we didn't want to waist a day where we wouldn't be spending some time in the hotel because we are doing an LA tour. . . anyhow, I guess it depends on how many are in your party. It is just DH and I - we are actually staying one night before that at a hotel on the beach. . . so, it doens't bug us to move. . . well be living out of the luggages mostly anyhow!

Yes you can have the hotel store your luggage.

The taxi ride would be minimal because they're only a few blocks apart. If you didn't have a lot of luggage, you could even walk--although it's a little bit of a hike.

I wouldn't bother switching, myself. You don't gain that much, and it's not as important IMO to stay onsite at DL.

Okey dokey. Thanks for the replies. I suppose we'll just stay at Sheraton Park throughout the duration of our stay in Anaheim. I guess we can always get the flavor of the Disney hotels by dropping by each of them and looking around.

You might even try booking a meal at one of the hotels. It's nice to get out of the parks and sit down for a relaxing meal away from all the noise and commotion. We like to leave DCA thru the back entrance and go to Whitewater Snacks for a bite to eat. It's quiet and air-conditioned so it's a great get away during those hot so-cal days. You also have Goofy's Kitchen for a character meal that the kid's enjoy or Napa Rose for fine dining. A few years ago, Napa Rose was voted best wine cellar in southern cal. I don't know if it still ranks that high, but it is very nice.

Isn't there a restaurant or bar at Disneyland Hotel that has a patio that overlooks the main pool area with the pirate ship? If so, what's its name? If it's a bar/lounge, do they have snacks, or just drinks? I saw a photo, and it looks like a good relaxation spot after a long day at the parks.

Cool! Thanks! I'm wondering if it's called, "The Lost Bar." The description in my PassPorter sounds very much like the photo I saw, and the menu description sounds like what you described.

The Disney site will let you book one night at a Disney hotel. Just click the "Hotel Only" option. If you try to book a vacation package for just one night, it won't let you. I think the minimum for that is two nights.

Thanks...I know when i was fooling around with the DLR website, it wouldn't let me book just one night...maybe i wasn't designating "hotel only".
