I understand the dire situation left behind by Katrina, but this forum has been dead for ages now. Do we really need it? We could use the space for the flu epidemic perhaps?

I have no problem with the threads being elsewhere, but it would make it easier for those who are interested in obtaining various sorts of information to have all of the separate threads in one place..:thumbsup2

I think the WebMasters are stuck in a delicate place. This forum was started to support those during a horrific disaster. Even though this forum has had no posts since Sept, and only one in Oct, and one in July, they don't want to seem insensitive now to the victims & families of Katrina, and forget them the way other entities & organizations have.

You are bang on, it is a tricky one. But if we are to have a board for one disaster, such as Katrina, why not another, such as the World Trade Centre debacle?

As a Katrina victim, survivor or whatever term you choose, I have no problem with this board being taken down or changed. Some may feel differently, but I think after four years, you just need to move on.

I'm not sure what you mean by the World Trade Center debacle?

and as to the closing of this forum: many people have suggested it in the past, especially when the political/religion threads were banned. For whatever reason, the powers that be have decided to keep this open.

I think the flu does need its own board

This would be great for a current events board. Pretty soon, this flu will be under control & the hype will die down & another event will come up that people will need support on. I'm still holding out for a current events board!:thumbsup2

That's a great idea!

Yes yes yes.... get rid of it! I live in Louisiana. The original purpose for this forum was to deal with the specific issues involving Katrina (finding relatives, etc...). All of that is long past.

It's NOT politically incorrect to get rid of the Katrina forum. It's NOT tricky place, or a delicate situation. Although the recovery continues, the disaster (and thus the original point of the forum) is OVER.

Worse (as I previously posted in the forum), continued media coverage of how "New Orleans was destroyed by Katrina and is still in ruins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" is damaging the city's tourism and economy. If you've never been to New Orleans.... COME VISIT. If you didn't know Katrina happened, you'd probably never even notice. The French Quarter and the Garden District look exactly the same as they did before Katrina. The only thing that's changed is that it's less crowded.

& less painful for others.....;)

Did you know there's a vaccine for that? (The "pain"?) You've got to read those threads and pay attention..:lmao:

Seriously though, I wouldn't worry about it.. They've really seemed to die down lately.. As the vaccinations become more available and people are able to get them easily, there won't be any need for further discussions of the pros and cons and such..

Just brace yourself for when the second big wave of this virus rolls in around January..Can't make any promises as to what people are going to be reporting in terms of deaths and hospitalizations..

Take care - and stay healthy! :goodvibes
