After my recent heart attack I have drastically changed my diet to try to further prevent, possibly even reverse, my coronary artery disease. The nutrition plan is pretty drastic, though - no meat, fish or eggs; no dairy, no oils and only products made with whole grains. No sugars or refined carbs.

If I contact DCL shoreside concierge (we're staying CL), can they have meals prepared for me for our dining rotations, breakfast and lunch? Also, we have a reservation at Remy for dinner. I don't want to be an inconvenience to the chefs there.

We were on a cruise in January with a family that had many food allergies. They preordered all of their meals and were really impressed with what the chefs made for them. Definitely ask!

Sorry to hear of your difficulties. Are your severe dietary restrictions something your doctor has indicated is a must for you, or are they just your own restrictions for yourself?
Your feelings are certainly understandable after having an attack so recent and not knowing what to expect.

If decided your own, would suggest you call your doctor before the cruise and discuss the issue with him. Aside the from obvious no-no's of sat. fats and oils, sugars, etc. you may
find a lot to choose from. My husband went through that as well.

Then call your DCL shoreside concierge and let them know you have food restrictions. They will advice you the procedure to follow to assure a happy and healthful cruise.

Bon voyage.

Also, as with any dietary restrictions/allergies, they will more than likely recommend that you avoid the buffet and stick to eating in the MDRs so that you know exactly what is in the foods you are eating.

My wife is on a dairy free/gluten free diet. She was able to eat at the buffet in Cabanas. She discussed what her restrictions are and what she wanted with a chef and they prepared her food separately and delivered to our table.

Most of the usual items in the Concierge lounge would probably not suit your diet. Reducing or avoiding most saturated fats, oils, sugars, etc., may be doable in the MDRs, but your "nutrition plan" IS so drastic that it goes against the foundations of French (practically synonymous with "rich") cooking. So considering the high price of Remy, I would skip it altogether. However, if you booked it solely to experience the environment and service, they could probably come up with something to meet your needs. It never hurts to inquire.

If your diet is that restricted, it may help to submit a medical form detailing your doctor's nutrition plan for you, since it goes far beyond DCL's normal Low-Fat, Low-Sugar, Gluten-Free sort of choices.

I know they have the dietary selection of Vegan which fits the no meat, fish, eggs or dairy portion.

Staying CL they will go above and beyond to meet your specific dietary needs! They have always been helpful in accommodating my DH's grandmother's diet which is similar to yours...though she does eat fish :)

We traveled with a friend who was vegetarian, and the first day when the server noticed they said if she liked Indian food, they could also get her a vegetarian meal from the crew cafe for future days. I have no clue about all of the restrictions, but our friend said it was very good and actually went with the "crew option" every night as her entree, and generally started with a salad from the main menu.

They are very good about helping you make the most of your dining experience. definately contact shoreside concierge. It has been my experience They are very accommodating.
