Is this Disney's attempt at discussion boards?

But the people on the Mom's Panel do not understand ticketing at all. Every time I go over there and look I am disgusted over the misinformation (and not only ticketing) that they give out.

At least DisBoards are self-correcting. If someone gives an incorrect answer to any question they will be "jumped on" by at last a half dozen people with the correct information.

Personally I would like to see my sticky in TPA&S required reading for all members of the Mom's Panel.
I totally get what you mean, but if those of us who know & understand this stuff don't apply for the Mom's Panel, what do you think will happen? But I'm pretty certain 90% of the people who post on the Mom's Panel have never heard of the DISBoards, and have no clue it exists. They post on the Mom's Panel because they stumbled across it while investigating Disney's site (or got an email from Disney, telling them about it.) DISBoards can only help those of us who find them.

Sayhello

Sayhello,

I'm not trying to dump on your desire to be on Disney's boards. If it floats your boat, go for it.

I was just voicing my personal opinion about it.

I suppose I could have phrased it better, but I harbor no ill will towards the people who want to be on the Official Disney boards.

Have at it! :thumbsup2

I don't know ticketing. I buy my AP and that's about all the ticket-thinking I do. So my lack of ticket knowledge kept me from being disgusted on that count.

I did see other misinformation, though. Those people answer questions whether or not they know the answer.

Like you said, we at least have the correct info even if one person answers incorrectly. You get a yes, a no and then 12 more yesses. :) You get a bunch of personal opinions, too. And we aren't afraid to be wrong. We'll say things like, "I think x y z, but I am not sure."

I only looked at it once, but there were totally wrong answers on that Disney board.

Of course, we all know how accurate info obtained from Disney staff can be, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

What a surprise, the site moves slower than molasses. :sad2:

I will NEVER understand why a company like Disney with so much new technology and cutting innovations at their fingertips has so much darned trouble with their Internet sites.

Ahh, well...

Personally this is just any way that Disney shows it is clueless regarding its fan base. If you are only going to offer it to 1000 that is fine but keep that information to yourself. There are plenty of folks that would be interested in testing this new idea but you only wanted 1000. How did they decide who that would be???? :confused3

This is Disney's attempt to build an online community.

The problem with the plan is that this online community survives because of differing opinions, personal stories, support through good and bad etc.

If this was just a question and answer forum....none of you would be back unless you had a question that needing answering.

And if all you got was the brochure description and pixie dust blown at you.....you'd lose interest even faster.

Disney information is disseminated much more quickly here on the D
is and as someone else has pointed out......it's self correcting. If you give incorrect information, someone will correct you and give the right information.

The sharing of opinions also has great merit. You can get a pretty good picture of things from reading everyone's opinion.....but then you should go and form your own.

The very fact that you can have an opinion is great. Try telling the Mom's Panel that the food at Shutters looks like an autopsy and that people should stand in the parking lot and burn cash rather than spend it in that restaurant and see what response you get.

Agree with this totally!

On the Disney Parks (Official) Blog there is a recent article about the history of Figment. When I attempted to correct an error as well as provide additional information, my response was "held for moderation". It has now been over two days and last time I looked over ten comments with time stamps after mine have been posted, but mine seems to have vanished into oblivion (maybe they didn't like my comments).

I will never understand it either. I just chalk it up to being one of the great mysteries you always wonder about. Big Foot.... Lochness Monster .... who was on the grassy knoll....

InsidEARS has a FB page and this is what they just posted about the issues the website is having.
=============================================

While the problems we're having with the DisneyParksInsidEARS.com website are not the worst things that could happen, things are definitely not... "as smooth as whipped cream." So, just like Walt Disney, we'll keep working, testing and working some more until we can make things smooth once again.

If you have tried entering the website with a Beta Invitation Code this weekend, you've noticed that we have temporarily closed our castle gates for the Beta Registration process. On a positive note, we believe we have identified the issues and are currently working on next steps. We'll keep updating as often as we can and cannot thank you enough for your patience and continued excitement about the new program. Once we can get the site fully functional for the 1,000 fans with Beta Phase Codes, we will begin the testing process and start the work of honing the site in preparation for our broader launch date.

We expect it will take a couple of months of testing with the Beta group before we can move to the next phase of the launch process. But, we are certain that by the time we host our Grand Launch for all of our Guests that we will be serving up bowls of whipped cream once again.
===============================================

Big bowls of whipped cream? Can't wait for the Grand Launch! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

C'mon over. We have a can of Redi-Whip in the fridge.

Why wait a couple of months?

But will you serve it to me in a big bowl??? :teeth:
(and at least they aren't going to be serving big bowls of another white substance that shall not be named)

And a couple months isn't so bad...you could cut them a little slack... afterall this new fangled internet thingy takes some getting used to you know.

Here's my experience so far:

(By the way, I have no intention of being active on this site. I'm going through the process so I can report back. I'm sure, once they figure out who I am....they'll kick me out.)

Thursday, after the email came, I spent most of the day simply trying to log in on the site. After I was finally in and created my "profile", I finally started taking the 15 question quiz. The system still sucked though and it kept kicking me out in the middle of the quiz. Good news....I got to see a lot of the questions.

While some were simple (which POTC came first, the movie or attraction), the Disneyland questions weren't all easy. I had to guess at some (and look them up later). Some examples:

What is the name of the private dining room at Steakhouse 55?
What is the only non-female name on a Storybook Land boat?

Friday morning I was finally able to get through and answer all 15 questions correctly. Whew!

Now, of course, the site is down again.

Dear Tom,

Unfortunately the Disney Parks InsidEARS Beta Testing website is still experiencing an outage. We appreciate your patience as we work to put the finishing touches on it in this special Beta Testing Phase. We'll be working over the weekend to get this repaired as soon as we can. Be sure to look for an update next week.

I'll let you all know when I learn more.

I totally agree with this. Maybe I'm naive to think I could make a difference. Who knows, maybe I didn't make the Mom's Panel because they know who I am??

That really does suck.

Mmm hmm...

The comparison to that site and a site like The Dis is sort of like comparing Birnbaum's Official Guide to WDW, ( which purported itself to be an independent publication) to The Unofficial Guide to WDW by the great Bob Sehlinger.

In the "Official Guide" everything at WDW was described as wonderful all the time, from the hotels to the restaurants to the parking. Back around 1999 I used to get a hoot trying to find SOMETHING negative that guide had to say about the parks.

There were two : 1) The All Star rooms were described as a bit smallish, and 2) While the Cobb salad at The Brown Derby was delicious, it was chopped, perhaps, a bit too finely for some people's taste.

Darned if when the 2000 edition came out, both of those lines had mysteriously vanished. Odd, huh ?

"Independent", my Aunt Reba !

Thank goodness Mr. Sehlinger was there to set the informed reader/ future visitor straight, and provide USEFUL AND HONEST information.

These days, of course, we have websites like The Dis for that purpose.

The site is back up....finally.

Time to see what this is all about.

Dear Tom,
