We only have a few short days in Disney. Basically 3 full, with a few half days in there. We are staying on site for 4 nights of those 3 full days. I want to maximize our park time and doing the must do rides. I am seriously considering just getting the dining plan solely for making prepark breakfast reservations. I have 4 actually already. 1 at each park. I figure we can ride Seven Dwarfs, EE, TSM and Soarin at opening right after our breakfast and then FP everything else after that. Is it that a complete waste of money just to get on rides at park opening? we need to eat anyway. We are early birds. And my kids like all the popular rides, including all of the Tier 1 and 2 rides. I know i am not maximizing my money but I figure i am basically just spending a little more to get into each park early.

We are going June 9 to June 13.

I can't speak to the ability to get that many rides in/if dining early really means an early entry to the rides but I wanted to mention that you don't need to the dining plan to make pre-park-open breakfast reservations. You might also look into the Early Morning Magic - a paid entry for breakfast and a few rides.

If you get there before RD and go straight to those rides, you don't need the PPO breakfast. So yes, I do think it's a waste of money.

As Raya said, you don't need the dining plan to make reservations. Also, keep an eye on park hours, because they change and can render any pre-park opening breakfast useless.

I was thinking too not getting the dining plan and just paying for the breakfasts out of pocket. That is an option as well. I just figured that HS and Epcot are harder during morning EMH to get on rides. With a prepark breakfast we could be one of the first one on Soarin and TSM, then FP Frozen or TT and RNR.

Right i understand it does not have anything to do with the dining plan. I was just considering getting the dining plan because i have all these pre park opening breakfasts. Normally i wouldn't waste a credit on a buffet but i am considering it this time if it gets us in the park earlier and close to the front of the line for the major rides at opening. I do hate the rush of trying to get to the rides with the masses at park opening. So i was considering this alternative instead.

you also have to consider what if it take you longer to eat, what if they let people in earlier ( I have been let in 20 minutes before the posted opening time before) so even with reservation you may not get on the ride first.

I would FP FEA

go to TT first and then soaring with the 3 theater it is not as bad,

HS FP RnR go to TSMM agin with the 3 track it is not so bad.

I would not wast money on a breakfast just to get on a ride, yes it dose work out for most but I do know some it did not and they were about 2 minute late and a 60 minute wait for FEA

If you don't normally eat a big breakfast I do not recommend eating at a bunch of breakfast buffets every morning and then racing to get on a bunch of rides. We aren't breakfast eaters but we will occasionally do a pre-park breakfast but ONLY if really WANT to eat at that particular place because we like it and want the character interaction or something and if we aren't planning to go crazy on rides right afterward. It's just not pleasant to be stuffed to the gills while racing through the hot and humid park and getting on roller coaster type rides (or spinning rides, etc).

Just plan to get there at rope drop and you will still be able to get a lot of rides checked off within the first hour, you will be much more comfortable, and you will save a lot of money.

Thank you for your replies! We did the prepark opening breakfast at BOG and loved it. We were out of there by 8:45 and lined up for SW7D and rode 3 times before the park openers got there. It was great. We have not been there since the 3rd tracks opened for TSM and Soarin so that is good to know!

My DD and I did pretty much exactly this trip last June - 3 and 1/2 days at GF. I would forget about the breakfasts. We made our FPs as early as we could and got to the park first thing in the morning. We only had one sit down - BOG - because we didn't want to waste time sitting down and eating and being served, etc. You will find once you get there that you have more time than you think. We rode all the rides we wanted, including Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain 3 or 4 times Toy Story and Splash Mountain twice, and one day rode at least one ride at all 4 parks, went to Disney Springs and rode all forms of transportation :)

Tip: We found that doing Animal Kingdom in the evening was better because the lines were shorter - maybe people weren't accustomed to them being open later in the day, or prefer earlier because of the Safari? I don't know but the line to Everest was 5 minutes. Enjoy your trip!!

maybe consider spending the money on events such as EMM if your main goal is to fit as many rides in as possible.

The EMM is sold out for the Sunday we are there  Hoping they add some other events and maybe it is just too early.

I agree w the others, don't book a lot of breakfasts just to maybe get a jump on a ride, or maybe not. It's easy enough to be first in line w/o doing that and I think you're overthinking the need to be so proactive. We show up a half-hour before the rope drops, we're usually right up at the front of the pack if not first, and we are one of the first in line no problem.

If you want the breakfast, that's different. Then book it and maybe it works, or maybe you get out there at 9:10 because things were a little slow.
