Is this crazy?

I've made reservations for Chef Mickey's on a day that we are planning on going to Hollywood Studios (made the reservation before we realized we were going to HS that day). There is nothing else available for the rest of the week at CM. Is it crazy/worth it to think that we can have our breakfast at 8:15 at CM and then go to HS for the remainder of the day?

What do you want to do at DHS? Rope drop is obviously out. You may still be able to get fastpasses for TSM but they will be for later in the day. If you have kids who want to do the Jedi training you may or may not be able to get them signed up, and if you do it will be for shows later in the day. As long as you intent to spend the whole day there, you may be able to get some of these things accomplished.

If you want to do anything besides TSM on fastpasses or Jedi Training, you shouldn't have problems unless it's Christmas Day or something. The things you really need rope drop for are TSM and Jedi Training.

I'd try to do both...especially if it's a weekday, you'll be better off. It looks like you're getting there a bit before the crazy Christmas rush.
(you also might wanna think about taking a cab from CM to DHS...especially with the young-uns.)

TSM fastpasses are in general gone well before noon, much of the time they are gone before 11. The later you arrive to get the fastpass, the later your return time will be. If you're planning to stay till they close (or leave and come back later) you might have a shot but from your signature, you have very young children.

It's not crazy, but as PPs have said, TSM would be the bottleneck. Depending on your kids, and if you can get to DHS in time to get FPs, you could plan to take a mid-day break/nap and come back for the late FP return time.

Also, it might not be a bad idea to keep checking for CM cancellations at a different time....

Personally I would keep Chef Mickey's for 2 reasons.
I think with the ages of your children, they will enjoy that more and secondly, I just don't get the hype about Toy Story Mania. It is good, but not worth revolving my whole day around. Just my Opinion

I'd cancel chef Mickey's. Maybe you could try to get an ADR for breakfast at Hollywood & Vine. They have Disney Jr characters and you'd be able to ride and/or get FP for TSM fairly easily since you'd already be in HS.

Um, no, they're not. Not even close.

Really? I've never been on TSM, but I was under the impression that they were exactly the same as well.

And no, I wouldn't cancel Chef Mickey breakfast just to be the first ones into the park. When you get there, you'll get your fast pass and ride later in the day.

Thanks everyone - I think we're going to keep our reservation at Chef Mickey's and cross our fingers that we'll still be able to get on TSM at some point. Appreciate the responses!

Add me to the cancel ressie group. You know you will be thinking about those darn fast passes for TSM and by the time you get to DHS your return time will be most likely in the 3 pm range

is that kid naptime?

Cancel the bfast and go with a PP suggestion - G&V, the kids will like it:thumbsup2
