Ok, so I've just had a really hard time with work lately. Not just average hard but reduced to tears hard. And, I'm not really a crier. I know it's going to get better but I've been so frustrated. To top it all off, my hubby is in the military and has just been gone more than normal. I know, he isn't in Iraq but couple that with the challenges of raising a 2 year old and a demanding job -- it's just been a cruddy 6 months.

So, at the last minute -- I'm thinking that we will just load up the car and go to WDW for Labor Day. I suddenly don't care about the heat, don't care that we don't have a dining reservation, don't care about the crowds, don't care that I have planned every minor detail of this trip -- I just need some fun and to spend some time with my family!!

No planning! Have I gone crazy? We have annual passes and can get a passholder rate of 245.00 total for four nights at ASMu.

I don't think it is crazy. If you have annual passes do you really need to plan THAT much for a 4 day trip-you probably know all the ins and outs by now. The only thing would be to get some ADR's and take off. For $250 that is a pretty cheep vacation if you ask me (plus some gas and food money obviously).

News flash, a trip to WDW is NEVER crazy. Also Labor day is typically a very slow day. Have fun.

We did that in 1997 when we had had a very trying summer.
Found $69 airfare, a $99 room with what they called a limited view at the WL....actually the room had a view of the smokehouse which, while not beautiful was actually quite interesting... had APs, so off we went for 4 lovely days.

Just be careful of the DVC guy in the lobby. Didn't spend much on the trip but spent about $12000 on DVC!;)

Not crazy at all! We are headed to Branson for the same reason. If we don't get away we are going to lose it.

go because life is way to short! when youlook back on your little one's early days you want to remember them as FUN and EXCITING! Go and play! It will give you strength to go back to work and deal with life's challenges. GO GO GO!!!! I do take my own advice- I am going to see Howard Jones at Food and Wine in October. I love him! I live in NH! This will be my 3rd trip there this year! when I saw he was playing there I said to my husband-wanna go? he really didn't so my 20 yr old son is coming and of course my Brenny(17 yr old with down syndrome) he LOVES it there! so we go play and it rejuvinates me to fight for his educational rights. :rotfl2:

Ok, we are going. Or, I'm at least 99% positive we are going. Yes, we are going to drive 8 hours each way to spend three days at WDW. It might sound nuts but I just need a break and the discounts are too good to pass up. We looked at going to New Orleans or several other locations and we will spend less at WDW -- and to be honest -- we would prefer WDW over other locations any way.

We have our Annual Passes and I don't think we are even going to bother with ADR's -- heck, we might even just eat QS all weekend. Or maybe we will try a place we have never tried before just because it is available. We have TIW discount for TS if we do decide to have a sit-down meal and we are going to stay at ASMu and they have TIW discount on their food court.

We aren't going to make one single plan and just do what we feel like doing, when we feel like doing it. I'm super excited!

We have two "planned" WDW trips back to back this winter. We are going the weekend of Thanksgiving and staying for a week -- on the super cheap that week too but we do have several ADR's.

And, we are taking a big trip Marathon weekend -- which is our Christmas and birthday presents to each other for hubby and myself. Lots of ADR's and Planned stuff that week -- obviously, half-marathon for me and Goofy Challenge for Hubby.

But, we are just super excited to be getting out of town and taking a break.

honey, GO FOR IT! i am SO jealous-after 4 months of dealing with my mother's nervous breakdown and the chaos and division it has caused in my family, i would LOVE to go to wdw, even just for a couple of days, but there's no money for it this year. there is nothing crazy about escaping a difficult time for a day or two, especially if you get to do it at wdw! hope you have a great time :)

Go for it. Life is short. Before you know it kids are grown. I too deal with a stressful job and have stressful home life at times and I would love to just jump in car and go. But we are going in Dec. so will have to wait and Stress over the wait till then. The most fun trips are those unplanned spur of the moment trips. So, go, have fun and enjoy.:thumbsup2
