I just posted some questions about SeaWorld. But, we are big Disney fans. so, Just wanted some advice.

My son goes to school in San Diego. I'm going down this weekend and he's done mid-morning on Monday. Initial plan was to go to Sea World on Tuesday and fly back Wednesday.

But, we both love Disney. Would it be crazy to drive to Disneyland on Monday (leaving San Diego around 10:30 am). Spend Monday night and all day Tuesday at Disney. Then, drive back in time for a 3:30 flight out of San Diego?

Several months ago I debated flying out of OC so we could do this but opted for the cheaper flights/hotels in San Diego. Now we are both thinking seeing the Christmas decorations at Disney would have been worth the $$.

Is this doable? Or, too much given the quick turn around.

thanks!
KC

This sounds 100% resonable for a Disney fan to do. It won't be a lot of time in the parks, but I wouldn't pass up the chance.

I live in San Diego (right near Sea World in fact) and I drive up to Disneyland all the time and usually go for just the day or for a quick overnight. It's definitely possible. The question is, is it worth the money for you. This is a really busy season so if you don't have a hotel already, you should get crackin' ;)

It's about a two hour drive (as long as there are no SNAFU's) and you have to check in for your flight by 2:30 at the LATEST in San Diego, so just plan your departure accordingly.

P.S. I saw your other post about SW (but I don't know the answer), but I was a swimmer in college too ;) Good luck to your son at his meet! What does he swim?

Thanks for the input! I think we may do it assuming I can get a hotel!

My son is a backstroker. But, also good at Fly and IM.

With such short time there, I would try to stay very close so you can easily walk to the parks. If you don't see any availability near, and I me across the street, you may just try priceline and expect to pay $15-30 more a day for parking over your bid.

I live in San Diego as well, and the bulk of our DL experiences have just been day trips. In fact, this year will be our first time actually staying overnight and having the whole "Disney Experience". So I say it's totally doable!

Thanks! We are going to do it! He's done at 10 am on Monday so we'll head up to Disney around 11.

I got a good deal at the Fairfield Inn which is a short walk so we're set.

I also found out that he can buy discounted 2 day hoppers through the school so that is a nice bonus!

I've always wanted to see the Christmas decorations so I'm really looking forward to it!
