We have 160 pts. at AKV, which expires in 2057. Then I buy an add-on, say at VWL,for 150 pts. Now when 2042 rolls around, when VWL expires, my 310 pts. go back to 160 pts.???

Yes, unless they offer an extension at a later time for VWL.
The VWL contract will expire on Jan 31, 2042 so your last set of VWL points will be the 2041 UY points. Now when 2042 rolls around, when VWL expires, my 310 pts. go back to 160 pts.???![]()

Does anybody really believe that they will keep their membership until it expires? I just don't think that that will happen. Everyones life can drastically change in 30 years.
I got to thinking about this and the answer to your question IMO is OF COURSE! Why not? Let's just say that there is no extension. At some point, nobody will want to buy your used contract with only 5 or 10 years leftover. The less time left on the contract, the less desireable to buy resale contracts, the less likely owners will be able to sell, thus owners keeping their contracts. Right?
Agreed, things can change in the next 30-40 years. But at the same time, I would say that we do intend on keeping our membership as long as possible, hopefully to the end of our term. If nothing else, keep it in the family to that point.Does anybody really believe that they will keep their membership until it expires? I just don't think that that will happen.
