My family is going to WDW 12/04 to 12/16. We are staying at POR. We asked our AAA TA about the cost of staying 2 nights at CR or AKL the last 2 nights of the trip. He quoted us $800 additional. It doesn't sound right. :sad2: Feedback?:confused3

CR maybe, but not AKL. ALthough it all depends on the accomodations, room, view etc. You should have options at those resorts that would be less than $800 additional.

It may be right - what type of room is he quoting? That would be the biggest thing. Also, how many people? If there are more than 2 adults in the room, you are charged for the extra adults.

For two nights (12/14 and 12/15) WDW website is showing the following -

CR - Garden Wing $609 plus tax, etc.
Tower (park view) $924 plus tax, etc.

AK - Standard view $507 plus tax, etc.
Club level $755 plus tax, etc.

You can see that there is a big difference in price depending on the type of room you select. There are also many other types of rooms, I just choose these two as an example.

BTW - we will be at WDW 12/4 - 12/11!

If you were traveling with 3 adults ($25.00 extra per night for the 3rd one) here are the rates at the Contemporary, from Dec 14 - 16.

Garden Wing - Standard View ($295.00)
Tower - Theme Park View ($ 435.00)
Standard Room - Atrium Club Level ($540.00)
Garden Wing - 1 Bedroom Suite ($885.00)
Garden Wing - Hospitality Suite ($930.00)
Bay Lake View 1 Bedroom Suite - Club Level ($1,160.00)
Bay Lake View 1 Bedroom Suite - Club Level ($1,705.00)

So if you would have a 4th, or 5th adult on your reservation it's another $25.00 per night added to your reservation.

Here are some various rates at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for at least 3 adults listed on the reservation.

Garden Wing - Standard View ($250.00)
Pool View ($260.00)
Pool View Bunk Bed ($ 280.00)
Savanna View ($315.00)
Savanna View Bunk Bed ($345.00)
Standard Room - Club Level ($360.00)
2 Bedroom Suite - Club Level ($1,250.00)

The current reservation we have is for 12/04-12/16 @POR ( 2 adults and a 9 year old), 9 day park hopper w/water parks, plus the DDP. We paid $3762. The AAA TA said that to add CR or AKV it would be $800 MORE. With the prices listed in the previous threads I would think it would not be $800 more. Feedback?

What the others said is correct: you need to find out what type of room they are trying to book you for. If it's the huge rooms, suites, etc. then that $800 extra could very well be right.

Also, if you are on a package with DDP - then the two extra nights might also include the dining.

also unless it is room only..the package price for the 2 nights will include 1 day myw base tickets

The reason the additional two nights seem so high is probably because the CM has added in the cost of DDP for each person, PLUS the cost of (at minimum) one day base tickets per person as well. You can't have the DDP for those additional days without also buying tickets, making your second reservation into a MYW package. Sometimes people forget that when you change resorts, you are talking about a whole separate ressie--not simply a continuation of the original reservation.

If you book a 'room only' for the additional days (just pay for meals OOP), then yes, it should come out to less than $800 for a typical, non-club level room.

Maybe I am not wording this correctly. All I am asking is to Upgrade the last 2 nights my family is there, not add 2 nights. The listed price for POR is $149/night and the CR nightly rate is approx $300. So if I am upgrading and have already paid the standard rate for the POR, wouldn't the upgrade costs be the difference or approx. $150/night = $300? Not $800. Am I wrong to think this?

That's just it. There is no Upgrade to part of a res, esp to be at a different resort. By planning a split stay, you then would have two res'.

I think you're fine as this is how I understood your question originally. Not sure of your source, but I think the CR is more than $300/night on average. And as I originally posted, depends on which type accomodation he was quoting you for the $800 upgrade. I would expect $400+ for CR, less your POR, might net you closer to $500-600 upgrade.

Check with your TA for specifics. Good luck!

Still becomes a separate reservation, because it is two nights at a different resort.

So, you would need to look at the difference in room rates (CR might be at 'rack rate', if the AAA rate rooms are already fully booked/unavailable for your dates). But you also need to consider in the difference in ticket prices, since you are now purchasing two separate packages (one at POR & then another one at CR). You have to purchase tickets with each of your two separate resort stays (not just book 'room only') if you wish to create the MYW package with the DDP.

I still think the reason your price and the TA's quote are disagreeing, is primarily due to figuring in ticket prices for the second reservation. You can choose to stay at more than one resort during your vacation (resort hop)... but your two different resort packages are not considered to be a single reservation. Not sure how else to try to explain... but they are two separate reservations--one per resort.

It looks like the AAA TA and I will have a long conversation tomorrow working this out. Thanks for all the help!!!!
