Is this completely insane?

If it were my husband?? Not happening! I've done split stays twice with him....he said no more!!! But, he likes to unpack and get settled. Now, me? I love switching!! Had one trip of 14 days that I had 1 night in AKL, 4 nights at BWV, 2 nights at Kidani, 4 nights at Pop, 2 nights back at BWV! It was crazy.
If it's just the two of you, and you don't have an issue living out of the suitcase? Go for it! The one thing I would suggest is to take a cab to each resort, with your bags. Not having my bags handy drove me nuts!!! You may not get into your room really early, but if you've cabbed it to the next resort, your bags will be in storage there and you can get to them if needed. If you let Disney move them, you may not see them again until past dinnertime!!!

As adventurous as they are, I probably wouldn't attempt one for my first trip. However, that's not to say they can't be done or done smoothly, especially since you are using this as an opportunity to plan or test out a future trip...

Will you be using your own vehicle? Will you be adding a package to any portion of the trip? Will that package include the DDP? These things matter time wise when it comes to split-stays.

Not sure if you've read through the split-stay thread, but there's a lot of helpful info to help guide you through the process. Good luck! http://www.disboards.com/threads/the-ultimate-split-stay-thread.3322505/

We will not have a car. If we need to we are willing to use a taxi service. We are planning to pay OOP for this trip.

I don't mind split stays but you're probably going to be bummed having to leave one or two of them so soon. You really don't have access to a room for most of the day on the day you move. Will you be in the parks all day or do you plan on returning to the resort to nap or swim? I would think you will spending some down time at the resort if this is a deluxe research trip. Personally I would pick two resorts max for a week long trip

I take back my previous statement. Turns out my husband does indeed think it's insane:rolleyes1 and shut it down lol, I am capped at two resorts. I think if yours is up to it then go for it!

DH and I did 5 nights/2 resorts in January, 3 nights AKL Jambo and 2 at the Poly. It was our first stay at both resorts, and if we'd had another 2 or 3 nights I think it would've been neat to try a 3rd new resort. Do it and have a great time!

You aren't crazy! We've done split stays before and as long as you are prepared for the moving around, you will be fine. Our summer vacation involves 1 resort at US for 3 days and 6 Disney resorts in 12 days (2 days each) and are a mix of mod/deluxe. I'm hoping that my kids like the moderates because Disney is pricing me out of the deluxes and my wife has turned the kids into Disney fanatics who only want to go to Disney for vacation.

We'll be in WDW for 12 nights, and will be staying at three resorts!! We'll be at POP for a week, one night at the Poly (4th of July), and finishing off our time at Wilderness Lodge. We love getting a chance to stay at multiple resorts, and couldn't afford to stay deluxe the whole time.
