Hi
We are leaving September 11th and we are staying at POP I have no desire to stay at a moderate this time. If a code comes out I usually stay at a moderate but what I'm finding is I like the Values we do use the pool and we are only two adults. I think this time if a code comes out I'll still stay at a value and save even more money. Does anyone else perfer a Value over Moderate not just for the price but for other reason or am I just cheap? KELLY:tongue:

What does it matter if that's what you like? Stay where you're happy. We all have different tastes. I personally don't like the values, but there are some moderates and deluxes I don't like either.

I definitely prefer the value over the moderate ...I don't get my money's worth out of the moderate...not into pools so I don't need the slide, don't need bikes or a sit down restaurant. I like the All Stars food courts over the ones at the moderates. So like you I will stick to the value over the moderate.

Now when I do jump up I go for the deluxe as I often like the transportation, location and the queen size bed.

I wish I preferred the value resorts -- would sure help my trip budget.

We stayed at Pop and AKL this last trip. I loved both. The Pop has a fantastic way of doing the buses to the parks (I don't know about the All Stars, I never stayed there) that was much faster than the time we stayed at POR. We plan to split all our stays like this from now on. The Pop was great to do the parks from and the AKL was wonderful to rest and relax at afterwards.

To me that is one of the great things about the Disney resorts - you can really find something that fits you :earsboy:

The values (ASMo) work for us this trip! DH wanted CBR again, I didn't really care, but DS3 saw the pics of Movies and wanted to stay there. Not that he knows, but his face lit up at just online pics, and that's what this trip is for. With our two boys going (age 3 and 1), we will use the pools at the resort, but slides don't matter, because they can't swim anyway, etc.

If we like ASMo, we'll probably go with a value again. DH is a huge tightwad, and I don't see spending more money than we need to until our kids are bigger and we need more space.

Go with what works for you!!

i prefer the value resorts' food courts over the moderates... more options, lower prices... better arcade too!

Pop is really nicer for a value. I found the rooms much nicer than at teh All Stars and the bus service is great.

for years we stayed at Riverside and loved it but the last two years it was not the same so last year we went to pop and we really loved it and will not stay any place else

I prefer values to moderates... well, at least the ones weve stayed at. We stayed in POR 2x and liked it, no complaints. Then we stayed at ASMO and really loved it! The theming is wonderful and the bus service was better than POR. I also preferred the more compact resort, as opposed to hiking all over at POR. The only advantage to POR was the entertainment in the lounge, but with 2 young kids, thats not priority. ;) After staying at ASMO(3x now, going to ASSP next), I would have a hard time going back and spending more money at a moderate.

We have stayed at the Dolphin once (won that one!) and the rest have been at the All Star Sports. We like the value resorts. They seem to be more laid back. You don't feel funny walking across the lobby in your swimsuit or going to go to laundry. I know everyone has dirty laundry.... we just didn't see anyone (at the Dolphin)! Any way I think it's a vacation so enjoy what you enjoy. Don't worry about if its cheap. Not all of us can or want to pay for deluxe. That's what make this world so great... you can choose what's best for you! So go and enjoy. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

It's just hubby & me on our trips & we really love the value resorts, too! :) We stayed at the All Star Movies in 2000 & 2001. We had ressies for Caribbean Beach in 2002 & got moved to the Poly & WL due to refurbishments at Caribbean Beach. We also got to stay at the Contemporary thru the SOG closure in 2003. While we loved being able to stay at these great deluxes - I could never see paying a couple hundred dollars a night on them. Maybe many years down the road - but not right now. We really love the foodcourt, pools, & transportation at the values. We just made our ressies for POP Century yesterday for this September - we can't wait!!!:)

When we spend all day at the parks and only use our room as a place to crash at night (and perhaps jump in the pool), I see little reason to stay at a Mod or Delux. To me, it's not being cheap, it's being practical. I stayed at Pop in February with my mother, and we both LOVED it! I would not hesitate to stay there again....in fact, my husband and I are spending our first anniversary trip night there as we are arriving late in the afternoon. Then we will move to OKW (a splurge for our 15 yr) for the rest of our stay. Our problem when we stay with the kids, however, is that we are a family of six. It makes more sense for us to stay off-site then (which is still less than two value rooms would be), where we can have lots of room, a kitchen, and a washer/dryer for a fraction of the price. That way, we can spend more for entertainment and return for another trip to WDW sooner!

We've only been to Disney once - about 10 years ago at the end of July. We went for a dance competition and was housed at the Dolphin for the competition. We then moved over to ASMu to spend 3-4 days at Disney.

While the Dolphin was a nice hotel - that's all it felt like. Like all the other hotels we've stayed in for years with dance.

Now - when we moved to ASMu - it just felt like DISNEY. Loved it. Stayed in the Calypso Building.

When we decided to return this year (leave in 6 days:bounce: :bounce: ) I debated about staying somewhere else. The ONLY place (we could afford) that would sleep 5 was POR. I made those reservations but kept thinking about the All Stars and their theming (for my 4 yo grandson).

We ended up switching from POR and got 2 rooms at ASMo instead (for the same price). Now we have 2 bathrooms (ideal for 18 and 22 year old daughters) - a seperate place for my grandson to "maybe" nap/rest and of course stay with his favorite BUZZ.

I've stayed at All-Stars Music, CBR, and POR. If the price were the same, I'd choose POR over AS-Mu. I would probably be willing to pay $10 a day more for a moderate if it was just two of us staying there. $15 a day may be pushing it; this is right about the difference that seems to come up most often between a room at a value and a room at a moderate.

I like the food court better at POR. POR food court has more selection than AS-Mu and little to no difference in prices on like items and it seemed less crowded during our visits. POR seems quieter and the rooms are a little bigger (two sinks!!). I like the availability of more pools at POR and the landscaping.

It is a long walk from the back buildings at AS-Mu to the food court and to the bus stop.
