Is this BDL to MCO airfare good?

I've already missed out on some really good prices for flights for our early February trip from Hartford (BDL) to Orlando (MCO).

I just found a Southwest Airlines airfare that is $184.18 for one round-trip ticket before fees and taxes ($226.50 afterwards). Does anyone have any ideas about whether I should book this now or wait and hope something lower becomes available?

Thanks!

I'd book it now if I were you.

While it may be possible that flight prices will drop between now and then, I will routinely buy any flight that prices at UNDER $200 before taxes.

With Southwest, if the price drops, you can rebook and get a credit for future travel.

So, in my opinion, any fare below $200 round trip is a buyable one (for BOS/PVD/BDL to MCO).

Not sure when in February you are going, but...JetBlue will be flying out of Logan beginning in January. Looks like the flights from BOS to MCO on JetBlue are running around $79 each way, until you get into the Feb School Vacation week. Take a look at www.jetblue.com and plug in your dates.

Otherwise I would buy the SWA tickets, because as others have said, if the price drops, you can get SWA credit.

Good Luck

debster812 - How nice to meet another mother with an Ian! My dh and I just love the name, and we hope our son will too, when he's old enough to care!

Thanks for your Jet Blue suggestion. Our travel dates do fall into Feb. vacations, so I didn't get that great fare you mentioned. I think I'll follow yours and JillU-DVC's advice and book the Southwest flights now. I just have really bad luck with my timing for monetary matters - mortgage rates, Skyauctions, you name it; so the prices will probably fall next week.:( I'm glad to know that I can get a credit, though, if the prices do fall.

Thanks again!

If you are talking Feb vacation week, book those tickets NOW! At $226 w/ taxes that is a good price for vacation week.

I'm SURE your Ian will love his name, I know ours does. That's him in my signature.

I tend to join in with the crowd and say book now. BUT I love having SWA credits from rebooking at lower fares because it makes me book more trips! LOL! Personally from watching fares over the last few years I do think that you will get a lower one if you are going early Feb - but that might not be for the days you want. If you book the days you want at $226 and then a lower fare comes out, but requires a date or flight time change, you can evaluate it then. BTW, We are flying down in just a couple weeks. I was really surprised their weren't lower fares for this time period (October) but this is when we wanted to go. I booked originally in July For $261, rebooked a couple days later for $241 (which was $99 each way with Taxes and fees) and just last week was able to rebook for a total cost of $186.50.

We are flying SWA during Feb break. I just booked R/T for $371.00 per person (inc. taxes...etc...). I could have purchased a little lower but, I like to book the fully refundable so if something happens, or plans changes I will have no problem getting our $$$ back. I am very happy with that price, as I have been checking prices for over a year and that is the most reasonable (with a fully refundable fare). I would also recommend getting your tickets now. Fares have been crazy and very unpredictable, the airlines have cut down on a lot of flights, so if you want a certain time it is really better to error on the side of caution (a quote my mother always used:p ) Good luck!!!

TinkHappy is right. I had DS and I booked for Feb on SWA into TPA for $362 each R/T (fully refundable). I jumped on the JetBlue tix the day they went for sale, and saved $80 per ticket, and have already been credited from SWA.

Book them NOW!!!! Before they are gone.

Thank you EVERYONE for your advice! I took it, and have bought the tickets. I already had fewer flight choices when I booked than I did earlier in the day! Our trip is Feb. 8 - Feb. 15, and I'm now thinking I'm lucky to have found ANY decent pricing on our return flight.

I don't know how I'm gonna stand the waiting now!

debster812 - Your Ian looks adorable in your picture.:earsboy:

Providence has 79.00 each way (before taxes and fees) for you time frame.
I would think that would be easier than Logan ( I would rather drink Draino then fly out of that zoo. :) ).

THANK YOU GAIL!!!

When I saw your reply in this thread, I checked my flights from PVD on Jan 30 and the pricing had DROPPED SUBSTANTIALLY!! I hadn't been checking prices regularly because I'd already booked, and because I hadn't seen any sale notices from SW for PVD (the last email on Tues didn't mention MCO).

I was able to rebook my Jan 30/Feb 6 flights to MCO, and now have an $80 credit to use for future flights! I ended up saving $40 per person, and I was already Ok with the price I"d paid (which was why I'd bought the tickets)!

Thanks so much!!

That is GREAT, happy I could help. I looked at mine today and while I did have a great rate from Long Island, it takes two hours, tolls and stress on the LIE to get there, so, for 101.00 more I booked out of BDL. Total cost for the two of us. 353.00 (176.50 each)rt/ns, late Jan.
