Is this appropriate restaurant behavior?

Were they wearing shirts and shoes? Did your DH remove his sunglasses when he ordered? If so, than nothing inappropriate going on here :teeth:

At some point while waiting in line, DH puts DS up on his shoulders and keeps him up on his shoulders while ordering, paying and bringing the drinks back to the table.
Some parents hold their kids hands and others put their kids on leashes. Your DH simply placed your son on his shoulders. :confused3 What's the big deal. Your son stayed safe and wasn't running around the restaurant. How do you hold the hand of a child and carry a tray of drinks?

I used to put my younger DS on my shoulders or back when we had a long walk through a parking lot or the mall. His weight was more evenly distributed and I could still use my hands to open doors and hang onto my older DS. We once went to a computer show in South Bend and I tossed younger DS on my shoulders because I was scared to death I'd loose him in the crush of people if I simply held his hand. And after that experience we never went back to that computer show.

No, I don't think it was rude at all. If I had been a customer there I would have seen them as a loving father and cute son.

I'd prefer to see that then a parent yelling at their children to keep quiet - I see this in public all the time - that's rude.

It's a guy thing. And I can't do it anymore with Vince, nor Natalie either, LOL. I miss those days.

I'm sure Abby might like that next time you see her. :)

Well that's very true! :rotfl:

I'm really surprised at the number of people who said, "no problem." I'm still not telling DH that I was "wrong" though. :teeth: And, yes, I was amazed that he was able to pay and carry a tray of 4 drinks without incident.

:rotfl: You should be happy you have such a talented husband. :rotfl:

My DH has actually done that type of thing in resurants like that (Fudruckers here) and I never really thought about it until I read your post.

So no I wouldn't have a problem with it. I was more along the lines that he had the kid, I didn't have to worry about it and they were both happy. :goodvibes

I am with the other posters. I don't think it is that big of a deal. But I am with you as far as not telling him you were wrong!! ;)

I'm pretty picky about restaurant behavior, but I don't see a problem with it.

eh, but you weren't really 'wrong'. It's just your opinion on what your DH was doing.

Remember, it's your job to worry, and DH's job to make more for you to worry about.

As an ex-restaurant manager & consultant, I have pretty definte ideas of what is right & wrong behavior in a dining situation... And from what you described, no big deal, imo.

My DH used to do that with our kids. Pretty soon, the kids are going to be too big that your DH won't be able to do that anymore. It's a casual, take-out type restaurant. I wouldn't worry about it.

No big deal from my point of view. I love to see young couples enjoying their children.
