Can we make ADR for a restaurant and just order appitizers? I don't want to be looked at as rude or cheap or wasting a table but sometimes we only want appetizers at lunch. For example we have a lunch ADR reservaton for Chefs de France and I would like to go there and just have the French Onion Soup for me and DH and get the kids either a kids meal each or an appetizer. I don't want a huge meal at lunch plus I am a vegetarian so I find alot of the appetizers more appealing then the one or 2 veggie entrees on a menu but would like to try some of the neat restaurants and I really want to try the soup there. Should we just stick to CS at lunch and save eating at these places for dinner or is this OK?

Yes it is fine. Just an FYI--French Onion soup is generally made with a beef broth (I'm sure you know that, but I was thrown when you said you were a vegetarian and then listed the soup as what you want).

DH and I frequently order two salads, and then share a couple of appetizers. It makes for a nice, light, delicious meal.:goodvibes

Yes thank-you, I do realize it is usually made with beef broth but sometimes it's not so I always ask.

Id say go for it. Its your reservation, your meal and your money. Dont let anyone try to tell you because your only ordering an app. that you should not be there. Enjoy your lunch in Paris, it is beautiful

It's no different than any other restaurant! Order anything you want and enjoy it! :thumbsup2

I would say go for it, except if it includes beef stock. We plan on eating at Chefs de France soon and are planning on just having the Onion Soup and Escargot. Sounds like a nice light lunch to us. No problems.

I think the onion soup is a classic style made with beef stock, but there are some good choices for vegetarians at Chefs de France -- flatbreads, salads, cheese plate, vegetarian lasagne, and a macaroni and cheese that is supposed to be amazing :goodvibes

There is a page on all ears (some of it may be outdated) listing many vegetarian/vegan options

http://www.allearsnet.com/din/vegtsparks.htm

and here on the DIS, you can search menus by main ingredient, so just select "vegetable" and it will give you a lot of choices...

It's also possible - but not guaranteed - that if you contact the restaurant at least 24 hours in advance, they'll be able to make you a vegetarian version.

And appetizers only should be fine. The flatbreads alone are huge!
