Hey all -
I know you can bring food and drinks (no booze) into the parks, and also am aware that coolers are not allowed. However, are SOFT-SIDED ROLLING coolers allowed???? Hoping to hear from someone who's brought one or has seen someone with one.

The reason I ask is that on the Disney cruise you are not allowed to bring a cooler on board, however soft-sided rolling coolers are perfectly acceptable. (I can definitely vouge for that!)

Thanks in advance -

:)
Leaving tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks
:earsgirl:

I have seen people using them. Unless you get a locker for it, what would you do with it when on the rides? I have taken in Juice Boxes & snacks right in my backpack & have never been stopped at security. They don't encourage you to take in real "food", but will not stop you on snack foods (or drinks)

A small soft side cooler yes.
A cooler on rollers--no.

Technically you aren't suppose to bring outside food and drink in but they don't say anything unless it is really obvious-- like a sizeable cooler.

That's not true, it actually said in of the brochures left in our room this past May that outside food was allowed. I don't recall the exact wording.

I believe outside food or drinks refers to as not purchased at WDW. ie, you can bring your bottle of water from the Poly, but no the Taco Bell tacos you purchased off-site

I'm not trying to be mean or flame, or anything else, but what on earth are you bringing into the parks that you need a rolling cooler?? That's a lot of food and beverages!

I would consider downsizing before I would consider how you are going to get that rolling cooler into the parks.

Well they do make them in all sizes. I've seen a couple the size of a bookbag, with back straps on them.
When you got kids, you're always hearing, I'm thirsty and I'm hungry, and if you're Kari, you hear it anyways. And it's nice to have things on the cold side. Plus when you open a bottle of soda, it goes flat sooner if it's warm than if you keep it cold. We never finish a 2 liter by the end of the day and it's too flat to drink.
Our usual is a 2 liter of soda, box of cheez-its or goldfish, and some gummies. I would think something that can hold a dozen cans of soda is a decent size. And there aren't any problems of bringing that on the rides. Of course we don't go on any thrill rides besides thunder mountain. And if you got a stroller, you could just leave it with the stroller.

There are 9 of us - to keep a nice supply of bottled water, juice boxes, and packaged snacks would save a TON of money between the group of us.

If we can't bring a rolling cooler I'm actually going to buy a cheap stroller to haul bags of drinks/snacks around in the seats and in the basket. A $30 stroller carrying a $4 - 24-pack of water will ultimately save us a boatload of money throughout our several days in the park. We can take turns pushing the stroller, and there's a place outside every ride to park it.

I drink a lot of water and could easily spend $25-30 per day on myself alone in water at Disney prices.

More money for souveniers!!

Well if there are nine of you, you might want to get two decent size coolers. Not too small and not too big. Or a cooler for drinks and a rolling back pack to keep the snacks in. And if you guys want to split up for the afternoon, one group can take a pack and the other will still have a pack of drinks and snacks.

You're going to take a 24-pack of bottled water into a theme park with you?? I buy those at Sam's Club, so I know how heavy those are. I think a package that large and heavy would be unmanageable in my opinion. It would really get in the way of your experience. I think what I would do, if I were in your situation, would be to have each adult have a backpack. Each adult could have enough waters in an insulated backpack to last themselves and whichever child they are in charge of for one day. I do know the waters are $2-2.50 each, so if you drink several each day it does add up, but one person shouldn't have to lug around one of those huge cases of water, they just won't enjoy themselves.

here's my advice re: water. BRITA WATER BOTTLES or similar. one for each person.

I agree. NO way would I want to lug around a cooler (or the contents you're talking about) all day for nine people! Keep in mind that even if you take a "rolling" type backpack, they won't let you actually roll it in the parks, you'll have to use straps. Any kind of rolling item, aside from a stroller or wheelchair, is prohibited as it's too easy for others to trip over. So even if you take items that can roll, you will have to carry them.

If you can't do the Brita bottles, I'd suggest splitting up the items between the adults and having them carry bags or backpacks. Alternatively, you could get a locker or two and simply stop by it a few times during the day to pick up items. You could also take one or two smaller bags or backpacks and use the locker as storage, then come back and refill from time to time.

Personally, it's worth the extra money to not have to worry about all this, but that's just me.

We were told during previous trips that anything that is pulled behind you....like roller coolers or kids wagons....are not allowed in the parks. The reason we were given is people can not control things that are being dragged behind them as well in crowds and the wheels get pulled over a lot of people's feet. I don't think you'll be allowed to bring the cooler into the parks
if it it on wheels and pulled behind you.

Makes sense....you don't see anyone pulling their kids in wagons anymore.

I may have mistaken what you are saying. However, you may get stopped with an entire 24 pack of water. I think you may really want to consider getting a refillable water filter sports bottle. I would think an entire cooler or a stroller for a case of water and snacks is a bit much.

You are joking right?

WOoooo!!! I have an idea! I'd love to bring an empty chest on our last day at the parks into Epcot and buy various foods from around WS to eat on the long drive to Texas or heat in the hotel microwave in Tallahassee! Heh heh heh.

OMG! We may just have to buy candy from around WS too!:teeth:

WHO CARES? If you and your family want to drag a HEAVY stroller filled up with snacks and bottled water and they let you enter the parks with it...more power to you girl!! :earboy2:

I didn't know there was such a thing as the Brita Water Bottle. I have added that to my list of items to purchase for our next visit to the world. Thanks for the great tip.
