We discovered a few weeks ago that my DS has some significant food allergies. Luckily most of them just cause rashes and the like and are not (at this time anyhow) life threatening. One of the allergies is to wheat. We have found some terrific wheat-free frozen waffles that he loves. Not sure I will be able to find them in the grocery stores down there, so I had this idea. I was going to toast a package of them the afternoon we leave, let them cool, and then put them all in a ziploc bag and bring them along. Once we are in our suite I will put them in the fridge, and then warm them in the toaster for bkfst during the week. Does that sound like a bad idea? (They would be unrefrigerated for at least 8 hours.) I am planning on shipping a package of other special foods down to the hotel before we go, but can't really do that with frozen stuff!! LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK, or if you have any other ideas!!!!..............P:crazy:

I think you would be fine. You might want to do a trial run to see if he will eat a rewarmed toasted waffle. Good Luck

I agree with SuzyB.
However, if the product you have in mind is not too obscure and you will have a way to get to the grocery store in Florida, you might try calling the WDW-area Publix or Winn Dixie to see if they carry it; you might be surprised. :D

Hi - my dd has a wheat allergy as well, in addition to soy and a few other things. In our case though the wheat just caused her not to gain weight so we had a little "play" if you will in her diet. Good news is that she is 9 , healthy, and a very healthy eater so don't worry !!

If the frozen waffles fly then by all means go for it. ITA with the previous posters suggestion of a home trial. My girls won't eat the shelf stable waffles but will eat the frozen ones. In addition, there lots of wheat free cereals and some "granola type" bars for snacks etc. These could be packed or shipped. Perhaps a quick on-line order delivered to the hotel would take care of alot of your son's staple foods and snacks.

Eight years ago we didn't have the wild harvest, etc type stores we have now so I had a really hard time finding good foods for dd and did alot of online ordering. You may be able to have some foods shipped to the resort directly from the onlne company, probably in dry ice. You may need to rent a fridge or try a home away from home if you need to cook or prepare.

Allears has a great section on dietary needs so I know you can arrange lots of meals to accomodate your son.

Have fun

TJ
