Is This a Sign Of Things To Come?

I've been reading this thread with great interest. We returned from Spring Break 8 days ago, so i'm viewing all of this thru the lens of our recent visit.

1) If the early morning event is escorted to FL, I doubt you will be allowed the time or opportunity to get pics in front of the castle in a nearly empty park.

2) Once Disney implements a new paid event or service or resort fee, I don't forsee them ever reversing it. Look at our economy. When gas prices were sky high, food and everything else took a major jump in price due to increased transportation costs. Have they gone back down relative to the current gas prices? No. I would like to think that the Disney food costs would eventually go down but I don't expect it.

3) These new paid events and other changes DO affect me, even if I don't use them. With every-increasing park crowds, it is harder to have the normal guest experience that Disney promotes. For example, taking away the prime viewing area on the MK train platform has taken away a nice chunk of area along with no more fastpasses. Yes, I can line up along the street and see the parade but sitting in the sun for 2 hours is not pleasurable. When you add the influx of people from the paid evening event, the available spots are greatly diminished. The stand-by lines are much longer, too, with the increased crowds and fastpass changes. Yes, I can still go when it opens and stay until it closes but I do less then I did before and paid more for it. Yes, I do use stand-by lines and 3-4 fastpasses per day but I'm also spending a lot of energy putting it all together like a puzzle to do what our family wants to do. Even some of the paid perks have changed, like no more assigned seating for the Wishes Dessert Party. Virtually everything that our family likes to do now comes with a hefty wait-time that can be directly impacted by a new influx of paid events. When FastPass came out years ago, Disney wanted people out of lines so they could spend more money in the parks. With the current crowd levels and anticipated increases, I will be spending more time in line and less time shopping.

4) Embarrassingly, I must admit to having an occasional entitlement attitude myself. I've staying up to midnight to get my coveted FP+s, I've diligently researched restaurants prior to my 180 window, I'm searched every DIS thread on topics that interest me and implemented those tips into my plans. All that while paying an ever increasing bill to go. Once I get there, I expect the Disney experience I see on commercials but it will never happen. I think that is why some of these seemingly innocent changes "get" to me. I've done all I'm supposed to do to customize my Disney time and then there is another curve ball.

Will we continue to go to Disney? Of course! I will also be sure to check my attitude at the door. I will continue to carve out the best vacation for me and my family.

That's just my 2 cents.

Pre park ADRs are a steal at $10 per person cancellation fee if you can still ride the rides. Or will it be restricted to just the paying guests with a "wristband" or something, so a pre-park ADR gets you nothing but a meal, then you will wait at a rope drop like everyone else.

I'm sure riding will be restricted to those with wristbands prior to official park open.

ETA: I think the leaked info actually said participants got a "sticker." Regardless, they will have something to identify them.

I don't have a crystal ball, but IF there will remain days without standard EMH and without a paid Morning Magic, I guess people can still chance into early rides on those days. However, I suspect that if these mornings are successful, you'll see either: EMH gone altogether; OR all mornings consumed by either EMH or new Morning Magic; OR some days still remain where you can get pre-park open ADRs but I'd guess they will no longer allow early ride access (so that people desiring that experience are pushed toward buying Morning Magic instead)

To me that is slightly fun and I look At It as a challenge. What bothers me most is 50 days out and they add something such as after hours on my perfectly planned MK day and there is little I can do to change our plans. Or having a pre park breakfast planned for the main reason of not having to fight crowds getting in MK and then changing the hours or worse yet possibly adding a early magic hours. I wish there was a way Disney could add theses things so it would not affect what people have planned in advance but to be honest I really do not see how they can do this without messing into some ones plans.

I hear you. During our (final!) Star Wars Weekends trip last May, we were shocked to find that, on our last day, the Magic Kingdom was closing at six for a "private event." Yeah, it was our last day and, yeah, knowing we wouldn't be missing out too much made it a little easier to leave, but still. They really, really need to give as much advance notice as possible about these things.

I'm wondering why everyone things the Frozen sisters will suddenly have super long lines again just because they're moving to Epcot. Their wait times definitely normalized in the last 18ish months and were on par with the length of lines for other princesses. I just don't understand the hysteria over their lines anymore.

I agree. On our trip earlier this month, we were not even going to bother-I had made all of our FP+ at 60 days and didn't even consider A&E. About two weeks before our trip, my daughter decided she wanted to see them and I was able to get a FP+.

Because they will be in new outfits!!! :rotfl:

Maybe because there is way less to do...especially for kids, at epcot.

So, does anyone know the official name for this (and is it under dining or events?) just so I can check if it's available on the ONE day we are able to visit the MK at RD? :crazy2:

Thank you; I just edited my post; I asked would it be under Dining or Events or Tours? Does anyone know? Thank you again

I think it is pretty obvious that Mickey has become very greedy. Such a shame.

Yeah, I think what some aren't considering is that with a family of 5 (all "adults" even though two are 10 and one is 12), we can only afford a three day trip, and we do like to RD so we can have a chance to ride all the rides we want. Isn't that the point of visiting a park? We park hop for 3 days, and on our last trip, thank GOODNESS I actually didn't get FP+ for 7DMT bc it was shut down all day! We did visit two days later but would they have given us a hard copy FP+ for it? Not sure. What if we didn't hop? What if our FP+ for 7DMT was for our last day? *sigh* Hopefully this time around, since we are staying on site and will do RD on our first day, somehow we will ride 7DMT! Cuz we want to, okay?? lol

All they would have to do is add another character with them and it would be a made house lol!!! I was really looking forward to the possibility of being there when they opened Frozen and the new meet and greet but just dealing with ROL is going to be stressful enough!!! Hoping that will take away Disney's focus on adding the Morning Magic for a while.

Back up on the dining page, dates not bookable yet

I took screenshots of the dates in case they pull it down :)

Thank you for this. Glad you posted it because I was thinking of switching my MK Thursday that they added the After Hours to for a Monday but waited since I was afraid of the chances of them adding this! Maybe this will be Disney's answer to their delaying ROL and just one more reason to upset me! I usually lift weights to deal with stress. After today and finding out ROL will NOT be available for our May trip along with a long list of other things I have a feeling I am going to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger by the time we leave for our trip lol!!!
