"Is This A Ride"? Our Disney Honeymoon Adventure 5/16-5/24

You look lovely in the wedding pictures posted on your mom's thread.

That little video is hilarious. It's funny that Josh was imitating it, but I agree that it would get annoying fast. :rotfl:

Speaking of funny, you calling him a butthead the morning of your wedding. :lmao:

I'm sad that your reception did not last long and had some drama, but glad that you enjoyed the rest of your wedding and that your bridesmaid were there for you all the way. :thumbsup2

Thanks :goodvibes. What is even funnier was my bridesmaid's reactions. I had two of them in the bathroom with me and they were trying very hard to distract me from the fact that my husband-to-be was on the other side of the door :lmao:

I guess that makes sense. According to one of the guests I talked to, the waiters brought the food out as soon as people started showing up (at around 2) even though they were told not to bring food out until 2:30. I still wish someone would have told me what was going on.

:rolleyes1 yeah, someone....

Love that you had Subway for dinner on your wedding night. :thumbsup2 We had Wendy's and have been happily married for 16 years! ;)

Yeah. We thought about going out for a nice dinner, but then we decided we were too tired to drive out of town. There really isn't much in the way of restaurants in our city. Our choices were: Expensive Italian Place (and we had 2 ADRs for Italian restaurants in Disney), Mexican (which we served at the reception), a local grill, Jack in the Box, McDonalds, or Subway. We picked Subway :rotfl:.

You forgot pizza... you could have picked pizza. ;) I guess you could say pizza is Italian though...

We left off with Josh and I going to sleep on the night of our wedding. I promise this update has pictures this time! Not very many, though. Josh and I were a little too tired to think about taking lots of pictures.

We got up at 2am and my mom picked us up at the apartment at 3am. We had our luggage and everything in the car by 3:10. We got dropped off at the airport and headed to the security checkpoint. I wanted to go through the first security checkpoint (no line) we saw but Josh thought we needed to go to the one closest to our gate:confused3. I was too tired to argue, so we wandered for about 3 minutes until we found another checkpoint closer to our gate. This one had a group of about 50 or so high school kids. So we wandered back to the security checkpoint that I wanted to go through.

I am happy to report that my experience with TSA was completely boring. I got scanned by the radiation scanner thingy (completely painless and quick). I was waaaay too tired to worry about any of the horror stories I heard before the trip :lmao:. No pat down for me or for my new husband. Yay :goodvibes.

We sat down at our gate and waited for boarding to start. I thought we snapped some pictures at this point but I was wrong. We did take a little video with the awesome flip camera that my sister-in-law gave us for our wedding present. It is just the two of us babbling about how tired we are :lmao:. I don't think I will post that.

We got on a very full flight to Atlanta. They oversold the flight and I saw several people volunteer to give up their seats. Once we were on the plane, Josh and I did get some sleep. I fell asleep for about an hour, woke up long enough for beverage service, fell asleep again, woke up for the second beverage service, and then slept until the plane started its decent. We then had a two hour layover in Georgia. We ate a quick lunch. I had a pretzel dog from Auntie Annie's and Josh had a pizza from Pizza Hut (no pictures, sorry). After that we boarded a plane to Orlando.

The flight was very bumpy. They canceled the beverage service and passed out water instead because it was too rough for them to use the carts. Oh, well. I was happy with water :goodvibes. I don't think I slept on this flight. It was too bumpy.

After we landed we headed to the Magical Express busses. Josh saw a ME bus and screamed, "Look! OUR BUS!" and bolted toward it :lmao:. He got about 30 feet away (almost outside) before I got the energy to scream, "No, Josh! Not that way!". He came back and looked very confused. "Is that bus not for us?". I was laughing my butt off at this point but managed to tell him no, we had to check in first :rotfl:. There was no line and we got on the buses within minutes. Here is our first picture of the trip:

Magical Express Bus!

When we got to the hotel, we went to check in. I found out that we were placed in Alligator Bayou. I really wanted to stay in the Magnolia section so we asked if we could get one of those rooms. The CM asked us to wait and went into the back room. After about ten minutes, the CM returned and said that he found a room for us in the Acadian House. We finished check-in, then went to our room. It was on the third floor, which was not ideal. But we did have less than a five minute walk to the North Depot bus stop and a ten minute walk to the main lobby. We also had a pretty view of the trees (which I completely forgot to take a picture of). Here are pictures of our room (we took a bunch more when we were leaving).

You can see my poor husband on the bed in this picture :rotfl:. We were so tired!

After spending some time in the room, we walked to the main lobby. If you read my PTR, you might remember that I was debating if I should add the park hopper to our tickets. I decided about a week before the trip that I wanted to add the PH option, so I called Disney. They told me that there would be a service charge if I added it before the trip, but there wouldn't be a charge if I added the option after we arrived at the hotel. So before dinner, I went to the concierge desk and added the park hopper option. After that we headed to Boatwright's.

Josh was excited when he found out that they served sweet tea. He is from Georgia and he tells me all the time that he can never find good sweet tea in Washington. The waitress told him that plenty of places in Disney World serve sweet tea. But she was wrong! This was the only restaurant that we went to that served it. Poor Josh. Anyways, here are some pictures of my husband and his beloved sweet tea.

Dinner was very good. I ordered Jambalaya and Josh ordered the Prime Rib. I was very jealous of his yummy prime rib. I wasn't as impressed with the Jambalaya as I was last time I had it. I got banana's foster for dessert (amazing) and Josh got the chocolate cake (which he didn't eat because he was so full). Here comes the food porn!

I had Light Pomegranate Lemonade. Sooo yummy!

We ended up taking some of the jambalaya and the cake back to the room, but we never did eat the leftovers.

After dinner we headed back to the room for some much-needed sleep. We had a long day ahead of us :goodvibes

Wow, I didn't realize it was such a long walk to the main lobby from where you were staying. I think I liked where we stayed in AB better. It was only like a minute from our building to the food court. Then again, the pictures of your room are pretty. AB rooms are much more rustic. :goodvibes

My photographer gave us our sneak peak of the wedding photos this morning :woohoo:. I am very happy with her photos and I can't wait to see the rest! Note that the photos on here were downloaded from facebook and may not be the highest quality. One of my bridesmaids also sent me the photos she took. The pictures without the little "S&J" logo are hers and were taken at the end of the reception (after the professional had left).

My hair. This was taken at the very end of the reception. I think it held up well.

Zoe walking down the aisle. I am going to ask my sister-in-law to edit Yogi bear out of the background (we tried to get him out of the theater but he was too big :lmao:)

Mmmm. Yummy cupcakes. There were three kinds. Coconut, red velvet, and salted caramel.

Popcorn! popcorn:: We served this to guests at the ceremony, along with water bottles with our name and wedding date on them.

That is it for now. The photographer said she should have the rest of the photos in a month or so. I really don't want to wait that long but I guess it is worth the wait.

Kira, those pictures are wonderful! You had a great photographer! I love that you got married in a theater, so unique...

Thanks :goodvibes. We loved our photographer. She was so much fun! She was so funny when we took that picture of Josh and I in the theater. Josh would try to eat the popcorn and she would laugh and tell him that he wasn't supposed to eat the props :lmao:. She was by far my favorite wedding vendor.

Josh and I love that movie theater so it was really special to get married there (even if it is a bit run down and has a giant cardboard cutout of Yogi bear:rotfl:). I think our guests loved it too. Those seats are sooo comfy!

Kira, I'm a friend of your mom's here on the DIS and I see you had a TR. I hope you don't mind me following along. Now, back to read.

And you are a beautiful bride.

:wave2: Hello and welcome! Of course I don't mind. The more the merrier :goodvibes. Oh, and thank you!

Okay..caught up now. Your wedding pictures are spectacular. As I said, you were a lovely bride (and so hubby don't feel bad...he looks good too). I love the popcorn idea -- superb!

Great update on the arrival day at the resort. We've never stayed at POR, but we've visited and it is a very pretty resort.

I think it very funny that DH kept asking "is this a ride?" But he obviously fell in love with Disney so that's good.

I love so many of the pictures, but my favorites are:
-The two of you under your veil (romantic :lovestruc)
-You looking up at your flower girl (so cute! :cutie:)
- You with your bridesmaid (that red looks awesome, it just pops!)
- The cupcakes (because they look yummy! popcorn::)

I've always wondered what made you decide to get married in a movie theatre? I've worked at one for many years when I was younger and never thought about somebody getting married there. Looking at your pictures, it seems like a very cool idea. :)

Jumping over from your mom's PTR. I laughed so hard at the video.

Love the wedding pics - esp the one of you and Zoe.

Congratulations on your marriage! Beautiful wedding photos:love:

How cute was that when your hubby ran out for the ME bus - sounds like he was excited to get his trip started!
