Just back home after our first use of DME following disney exptreme penny pinching decision not to ship yellow labels to us brits.

Well what a total shambles!

1530 - Get off the plane, had the usual shocking 60 minute nightmare at immigration and customs and then put my bags back on the belt for their journey to the carousel and we all hopped on the monorail.

1700 - Got in the line for the DME and got to the front after 10 mins or so. Notrace of us on the system of course, so I handed my driving licence to the Cm on the desk.

'Oh that surname spelling, I have it now.' Grr! (No issue here had I been sent the DMe documents as before) THen asked to describe my bags by pointing to a couple of photos. did so and then handed my baggage claim receipts to be scanned. Got on the bus and off to OKW.

Got to OKW at 1745 and into our room. At 10pm not trace of bags so passed out in bed.

Up at 6am, still no bags so I phoned bell services. Not there! THey said they would Launch an enquiry.

off to the park in yesterdays clothes, underpants turned inside out etc (too much information do you think?)

Get back at 1pm - still no bags. Check with Bell services, nothing there for us still. Now getting really irritated. Need our bags! Very stinky are we!

Went to the gift shop and bought bathing costumes to go to the pool for a bit. Back to room at 4pm. still no bags!

2 of them eventually arrived at 10pm! Apparently they were in MCO unclaimed baggage as disney had not bothered to collect them from the carousel!

Another turned up the next day. One never did. guess it got stolen. Disney were very sorry for the mix up and offered $100 room credit.

We had to claim for the baggage on the insurance. Insurance have denied the claim as we didnt bother to collect it. They have stated they dont recognise DME as a valid collection agent.

Have fired off an email to disney who are sorry, but referring me back to my insurers.

So in future, I will collect my bags and take them myself to the DME. I will however not tip the driver and will let him know to collect his tip from DME as it all their fault.

Rant over. Feel better now!

Very sorry to hear that. I had to wait 2.5 days for my luggage to catch up with me in Stockholm a few years back, so I know how much fun that can be...

This is why I always carry extra clothes in my carry on! My DH once went to Germany (this is before we were married so I did not help pack his bags) and he went without his luggage for 2 or 3 days with no clothes in his carry on.
I hope you get reimbursed for your missing bag. $100 is not much.

And exactly how many of those darn yellow tags could they have printed for $100. Seriously! Add 25 stinking cents to each persons vacation and you can print millions of labels! Not having the big bright yellow tags is the direct cause of the OPs bags not getting where they needed to be. Inexcusable! Disney has dropped the ball on this one!!! I am furious for you!!!

A change of clothes in a carry on is a lifesaver. I also carry my pillow in the carry on because I can't sleep without it. We travel with multiple luggage and make sure everyone's clothing is divided evenly among all the suitcases, so that in the case one is lost, everyone still has clothes. We have had lost luggage be gone for as long as 4 days. I travel knowing there is a possibility I may never see my luggage again.
