Is this a really bad idea?

So, we are planning on going to MVMCP on December 5. The next day is my daughter's 7th birthday. We had lunch reservations at CRT for 1:30. At the time, there were no breakfast times available, and I figured it would be just as well since we would be out late the previous night.

I was just poking around on the reservation site, and lo and behold an 8:15 (pre park opening) CRT reservation popped up! Without thinking about it much, I hopped on it.

Now, I have both, obviously, and want to let go of one to give someone else a chance.

Am I crazy for considering doing the pre-park opening CRT the day after MVMCP? Will my family hate me because they will want to sleep in? On the other hand, wouldn't it be cool to have empty main street to ourselves on the morning of her special day?

What would you do?? I suppose we could make it an earlier night at MVMCP. Is there anything at the party we are missing at the very end of the night? For what it's worth, we're staying at the WL so we are only a short boat ride from MK. Thoughts?

I think that if everyone wants your daughter to have an amazing experience in her birthday then they'll suck it up and be happy for her. :)

I'd keep the later one and let everyone sleep in. Not only will you have had a very full night the night before, it's likely that your 7YO (not to mention the rest of the family) will have filled up on cookies and other treats, making a full breakfast that early a bit less appealing.

I don't know that there's anything you'll "miss" by leaving the party early, but you paid a decent amount of money for the party tickets, and I'd want to get my money's worth! I sure wouldn't want to be rushing through the party so that I could get back early in order to be up at dawn for breakfast.

But ... that's me. I can do a late night OR an early breakfast. I'm too old to do both! :rotfl:

:earsboy:

It would likely be a vey uncomfortable situation the morning after the party.

Hmmm. That's what I'm worried about Robo. I was considering maybe just doing the morning at MK and then going back to the resort for a nap, then maybe DTD that evening.

I wish they would let you change dates for your party later on, but I understand why they can't. I *just* bought the tickets earlier this week. :rolleyes2

I'd change your party date! Personally, not a big fan of the party but think you should do it at least once.

I think having the family well rested for a special day for your daughter is important:thumbsup2 But even if you don't change the party date I would still keep the early reservation. Disney vacations are not always traditional vacations and sometimes you have to be ready for late nights than early mornings. I think you could do it one day for your daughter.

But also think about whether that would wreck the rest of the day. Yeah, I think you should change the party date.

Keep the lunch. I understand the attraction of the pre-opening breakfast. We've done one in each of our last two trips at Crystal Palace and we love them. But we were not out late the night before. Our late night during a trip is generally when we watch the night time entertainment at MK (MSEP, Castle Show and Wishes) and generally the next day is an Epcot day. Of course my daughter sleeps like she works the night shift. So that colors my thinking on it. We've also done CRT and know how special that is. Is she dressing for CRT? Like is getting ready that day going to take any extra time?

Just call them and ask NICELY.

I've read of some very happy results.

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. I'll admit I really want to do the pre-park opening one, but definitely do not want to make everyone miserable.

Part of me thinks that we'd be up earlier anyway, because she'd be excited for her birthday, you know? Then Id kick myself that we didn't keep it. ;) But perhaps I am underestimating how tired we will be. Maybe it is better to be safe than sorry.

But oh, how nice it would be for her to have Main st. to herself (so to speak) on her birthday!

The other option for the party for us is the night before we want to do rope drop at DHS, so the other party date doesn't work well either.

I think your daughter's birthday is more important than DHS rope drop however...:thumbsup2

Keep the lunch reservation at CRT.
Let your daughter sleep in and relax on her birthday and be fresh and excited for lunch!

I agree! :goodvibes

The other one is also a Sunday night, and I've heard those tend to be the more "busy" nights for MVMCP, but I can't fret about that level of detail at this point.

I think I may call them to ask! It can't hurt, right?

Absolutely not! Good luck!

I agree. We're a crew that will hop right back up the next morning after a party in order to make RD with no grumbling but I wouldn't want to *have* to get up that early to make an ADR. So I'd keep the later one (personally).

Definitely keep the lunch time. We did breakfast the morning following a hard ticket party once. (I'm not even sure if they were doing the character lunch at CRT back when this happened.) I won't do it again. Those photos on a lovely empty Main Street aren't worth it when everyone looks like they are still asleep.

Plus, you don't want to spend your entire party evening looking at your watches trying to decide how early you should leave.

Does anyone else think this is an odd response? :confused3

Weird wording.

How does this sound?

"I think it might be uncomfortable to try to wake up early and get to the early ADR the morning following a late night at a party."

Thanks, everyone.

I'm going to call in the morning to see if we can change dates for the party. If we can't, we'll stick with lunch. I think either way we are very lucky to have such a dilemma!

I will let you know what the CM tells me about changing days for the party. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I figure its worth it to ask so I can make a decision.
