Is this a PARADE or a "Freak Show" of odd talent?

I personally enjoyed the parade/advertisement until Fantasia started "singing". Had to turn the channel then. JMO.

If you don't like it, don't go next year...
Yep, that way I will be able to walk down main street and not bump into you! :rotfl:

I have to agree with other posters. My dd is 12 and she adores Raven. I can't even tell you how many times she has seen the Cheetah Girls movie. She watches it every time it comes on. I was also very surprised to hear adults make such negative comments about Raven's weight. I think she is a lovely young woman and my daughter comments all the time how pretty she thinks Raven is. Funny, I never have heard her say how fat she thinks Raven is. But then, she has been brought up to say nothing if she hasn't got something nice to say. In this day of anorexia and bulemia shame on those who would berate a young woman who has the courage to be who she is and doesn't feel the need to stick her fingers down her throat to conform to the images that teen girls are innundated with every day from Cosmopolitan, Vogue, etc.

But leave RAVEN out of it!!!
I think her show is hysterical, she really is a true talent and so what if she is not skinny.
She seems very genuine and her show leaves me in stitches!!!

Now that you mention it, I watched the whole thing, and don't remember seeing him at all, but do recall he was listed as going to appear. I remember thinking they'd probably have him connected to Star Tours somehow? Maybe he was a no-show in the end? Can anyone point out where/if he appeared? (Editing to say: I just read another post above, and I didn't see the Brian Setzer Orchestra, either. I taped the 3:05-5:00 a.m. show on Channel 5 in Boston, so maybe they edited it differently?)

[Putting my flame suit on...] I have to say, though, that as much as I love Disney (and, like I said, watched the entire thing), broadcasting that show under the guise of a "the Christmas parade" is pathetic. Now if they just broadcast, from end-to-end, the Main Street Christmas parade, that would be more appropriate. What does Star Jones touring a Grand Villa or Raven showing Expedition Everest have to do with the holiday? I guess it's the best use of Disney's air time, but after awhile it annoys me. I watch my vacation planning DVD to see the rest -- when I tune into the parade, I just want to see the parade! [Removing suit...]

You had to tape the Chris Matthews show, since the Brian Setzer set was actually before the actual start time of 3:05!!! I'm glad I taped the Chris M. show in it's entirety since I was at the taping of Brian Setzer's stuff. Of course, I watched to see myself!!!! Did I? Nope, not even close. Won't find me standing around, in one spot, for 3 1/2 hrs next year!!!!! Anyway....
The thing that got me was the short, maybe 30 sec. DVC bit. It was being shot at BW while I was there. There was an incredible amount of bother and inconvienence trying to get through that lobby for a little bitty 30 sec shot. Couldn't they have taped it at night, rather than the middle of the day? I was hoping to see something much longer, showing off BW. Ah well...guess SSR got Star Jones to do that.
I like Raven. And for the most part the 'parade' show was okay. But, it is just a 2 hr. commercial when you get right down to it. This year Regis and Kelly seemed to be a bit wooden...not into it at all.

I agree. I felt like they were working on automatic pilot. I don't know why they even bothered flying them down there for the amount of air time they had. Most of their comments were off screen anyways. They could have easily superimposed Main Street behind them and let them tape elsewhere. LOL. :wizard:

I was so excited to read others comments on the President. We were watching it all together on Christmas of course and they came on and my mom goes "oh look they have the Hall of Presidents! Is that what they say during the Chistmas season?" My moms favorite thing at MK is the Hall of Presidents and she was dead serious when she said this, it was hysterical!
As for the plethra of Disney stars thats what Disney does, anyone who watches the Disney channel knows that the stars appear on several things from movies to music to shows so that should have been expected as annoyin as it may be.
And Raven seems like a decent enough actress and its good to see someone whose not starving and unrealistic it makes her more relateable for kids.
And to hop on the bandwagon, where was Hayden? Anyone know what happened there?
Tis all for now

I missed it. I understood that Hayden Christensen was supposed to be a part as well. What did he do? Did he bring his light sabre? :teeth:

Hayden Christensen was supposed to do a bit about Soarin. DD was supposed to be one of the teens to ride Soarin with him. They were going to tape it early in December, but he cancelled at the last minute. Her agent didn't give any reasons why.

The Parade gets worse each year but I keep watching and hoping. Regis and Kelly need to be replaced -- they sit there like robots reading cue cards and are boring. Kelly acted (and looked) liked she was up all night and couldn't wake up. They are really, really bad. Ryan may have been rushed, but at least he was lively and didn't seem as fake. The "talent" that they focus on each year is interesting -- have we ever heard again of most of the ones who performed a few years ago -- or even last year? What a waste of time. We would rather see more of the Parade and/or parks.

Ok, this makes sense. However, what why were there not one but THREE representatives (Ryan Seacrest, Fantasia, and Kimberly Locke) from American Idol, a FOX series? Don't get me wrong, I thought they were some of the best and well known performers, but I wonder why they felt they had to reach out to a franchise they don't own (or does Disney/ ABC have some production or other roll in AI?)?
I am not exactly sure of the role between AI and Disney but I know that Disney was a sponsor to Clay Aiken's tour ( he says so in his book) and also Clay and Kim Locke have been on a Disney Mania cd. :earsboy:

IMHO I feel like Disney is taking every actor and actress they have and trying to turn them into a pop star. Does anyone else see this. Most of them are good actors and actresses, for example hilary duff and raven, but to make them singers as well?? I feel the disney is trying to get every penny they can out of their contract. Please leave the singing to the ones with the talent! The same can also said for the reverse, singers turned into actors and actresses, just leave it alone. :faint:
