Ok sounds strange but would it be a NONO to check into say ASSp fo 6 days or whatever but actually be on a Disney Cruise ship during that time? So you ask yourself why would you do that. Well we won a vacation credit but the Travel Agency does not do cruises. However WDW is an option.

still didnt answer the question.

WHY would you do that?

Book a room at the resort and spend your own money to take a cruise?
so you would book the room but not show up? or would you go to the resort and register?

Are you talking about having them pay for the WDW vacation, getting the money back, and using it for the cruise?

:confused3

I guess I should not have mentioned the win. So would it be a nono to check into and pay for a room at any Disney resort but actually be gone on a Disney Cruise ship during that time?

As in ... pay for your WDW vacation AND pay for your cruise because the travel company won't pay for it?

I don't get it :confused3

If it's being paid for, I can't see why you can't do whatever you want.

So, my guess is that you won the WDW vaca, but really want to go on the cruise, so you're paying for the cruise, but letting the prize of the WDW vaca pay for your flights down, and also get the magic your way tickets to use at a later date since you won't use them. You're giving up the room, but allowing yourself to go on a cruise that maybe would be hard to afford if you had to pay for flights too? If that's it, then I get it :)

WOW ... if that turns out to be correct, you seriously need to be a Whodunnit writer. Great theory!

For now, I'll call you Sherlock!

Ding Ding we have a winner. In fact we are going to upgrade the tickets to AP. The real reason for the cruise is that is what we really had are heart set on the cruise and were shocked to find out no cruises from them. So since we already have 2 trips planed this year to WDW and it is a large credit we won. Mite as well sneak in a cruise. Now if any does know that Disney says that nono you cant do that please let me know/.

I get it too. Except that they would need to make absolutely that those tickets CAN be kept for the future. It's possible they are using special tickets with an expiration date.

I would wonder if you could do both? Have the return flight scheduled after both the cruise and the hotel stay? Seems like more fun to really reap the benefits of the win....

WOW!!! You should be a detective! :rotfl2:

OP, I would check to see what type of tickets the travel agency would be getting. As PP said, they could be special tickets and may have an expiration date.

If a room is obvioulsy not being used WDW will check you out themselves. Which may or may not be a bummer since you really only need the tickets but it would be nice to have somewhere to stay before and after. Would the company let you go down there for a 3 day before your cruise vacation and 3 day after your cruise vacation?

I would use the room for before and after your cruise. Leave a bag and some clothes around so it looks like someone is staying there or i bet if you tell them you will be gone from the room for a few days they would not care since it is paid for.

so I am thinking.....you say it's a large credit...how about a Disney Cruise? even though the travel agent doesn't book cruises elsewhere on other cruise lines, if they are an authorized Disney Travel agent they would have access to booking a Disney Cruise for you. Seeing they are somewhat expensive and you have a large credit that might be a good option for you. But that wasn't your question, so to answer that, I don't see why they would have a problem with you not actually staying in your room, why would they care, they got their money.

Not only could the tickets have expiration dates, but it's possible that they're not eligible for upgrade. Since OP says they want to upgrade to an AP with those tickets, that's definitely something that needs to be checked on. Certain tickets cannot be upgraded to APs at all.
