I've never looked at flight prices before and i have no real idea how good this is :confused3

Mon 12/4/10 to Fri 30/4/10 Manchester to Orlando International
Booking online at virgin-atlantic.com

£805 return for one adult and one 11yr old (who just registers as a child) it is a direct flight.

I went to our local travel agent (Thomas Cook) and all their quotes where higher than this. But we've never flown before so I have nothing to compare this with :confused3

i paid 635 for 2 adults flying 27/8 to 11/09 this year from gatwick with virgin

Not sure if manchester flights are more expensive

For a direct flight, £800 sounds a very good price, and a quick check suggests that you can't even get an indirect flight for any better price.

I'd go for it!

You won't get much cheaper, only way is if you have 4,000 miles you can get a miles and money fare at £702 or wait for a sale, might save a little might not.
If you are set on them dates I would book at that price.

Thankyou :thumbsup2

Is it worth taking that price to Thomas Cook to see if they would match it, just for the extra security of booking through a travel agent or is it not possible to do that?

Do Thomas cook sell Virgin flights? sorry I wouldn't have a clue, not use a travel agent since 2000, almost 10 years ago.

Yes. One of the flight quotes they gave me this morning was for Virgin but it was for more than that.

Do you book DIY now? Do you find it a safe way to book?

You book DIY when the price is right, very difficult when its your 1st time. Every day I look for offers, deals and misprices. One of the best I have had is for this August, Business class flights which should have been £1,700pp I have got for £465pp
Booking an onsite package is more difficult to save money, Disney fix the prices so unless you go thru free dining its going to be expensive, especially if you buy the dining plan. For value resort and DDP its going to cost you about £110 before tickets, you can stay and eat offsite for half that. Thru free DDP you could stay in deluxe DVC OKW or SSR for similar price.

Almost every trip below is DIY, thankfully never a problem.

Thankyou - I'm thinking DIY should be ok for us then.

I did look at free DDP for August until I saw how hot it gets then :scared1: so opted to pay extra for dining and go April. I know we will get our moneys worth from DDP as we do like to eat at nice places when on holiday, so I've priced it up and I'm fairly sure we'll save buying this compared to paying for meals while we're there.
I would have considered staying offsite but I don't think it would be practical because I dont drive.

we didnt find it that hot in aug, we even got married in full wedding dress and morning suit on 2nd sept at 2.30pm the hottest part of the day and we were fine

Everyone likes different temps, April is not warm enough for us. We have had great temps but also fleece weather. August can be too hot for some, perfect for us.

i was looking at the average day time temps in the Brit guide:
25C to 29C in April compared with 32C to 35C in August
and I think we would struggle with over 30 every day, especially if the parks were packed in Aug. But everyones different :)

Chances are April will be OK but we have been twice in April and both times alothough some great weather we have had days we have had to wear longs and fleeces. For us wasn't too bad as we knew we were going back in August for better weather but if it was our only holiday of the year we wouldn't choose April.

...but if it was our only holiday of the year we wouldn't choose April.

;) I guess thats where we differ.
We happily had our only holiday each year at DLP 2 years running in Jan or Mar. Not too bothered about the temp, as long as it stays over 16C.
