is this a good price for DSi?

is $129 a good price for a DSi - I'm trying to start working on Christmas and I know we're going to want to buy 2 of these - but I don't know what a good price is.

The regular price is $170 so its a good deal now however who knows what will happen the closer we get to Christmas. There is a new DSi coming out, if it comes out before Christmas there may be some really good specials on the current DSi.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you see that price? That is normally the price for the regular DS, w/DSi being $170 as PP said. I know Target it has it this week for $155, about $15 off. I know my son would like to upgrade from DS to DSi, so he might be interested,

The new dsi xl will definately be here by Christmas. It comes out on

March 28th. Probably why Target has the DSi for 155 this week.

One more viewpoint...if you are looking to get one now for Christmas, if you have any defects, the warraty will be LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG gone by December. Just a thought!

I am guessing the new price will be around $129- that's what my local grocery store is selling it at- they had the blue and another color I can't recall. With the new one coming out so soon I believe they will be finding a new price point for the older model.
The new one coming out is definately geared more towards adults in the colors I think.

I got one from Dell a few days ago. I figured the price was good and didn't think it would go any lower with the new one coming out. I doubt it will even go that low, but I don't know of course, just a guess. BUT if I were buying for Christmas I would have waited. DS7 is saving his money and he is $25 away. I am pretty sure his grandparents are sending him the last $25.

This past Christmas, $129 is the best price I saw for a DSi (The DS retails for $129, DSi retails for around $169.). I bought ours for $129 in October--seems like Dell runs this deal a couple of times a year, so you might want to wait in case prices go down this year. I never saw a price lower than $129 last season, but there were some packages that were pretty good deals (like get the DSi, accessories and a game for $169, or something like that.)

I owuld just get them a DSi after the new XL's come out, unless you can get some kind of screaming deal on the DS lite. The DSi will likely be down to what the DS lites are currently.

Unless, of course, they play any GBA games on their Lite. The DSi doesn't have that slot. And who knows if the Lites may get pulled when the XL makes its debut in a few more days. Not trying to panic anyone, just don't know how long Nintendo will sell three different handhelds, especially with the new 3DS now in the pipeline.

BTW...I just checked retailmenot.com, and they have a coupon for 10% off plus free shipping. The DS lites are on there for 129.00. Amazon has them for 119.00 right now.

The XL is priced at $189, I wouldn't expect the everyday price of the DSI to drop below $149. If they were to price the DSI @ $119, the current DS lite price, they wouldn't sell too many XL's w/ the $70 price difference after the initial launch. FWIW I picked up 2 of the DSIs on Dell yesterday for my girls easter baskets, which according to dell have already shipped.
