I was able to rent a full size car from Feb 5 to Feb 16 for a total of $461.18 (includes all fees).

Does this seem like a fair price or should I keep on checking out codes? Thank you for your input.

I am getting a mid size for 10.5 days for $255 from National.

This is in Oct, so maybe the difference is because yours is Feb?

Did you try the codes on Mousesaver's?

Are they charging you for 10 days or 11 days? they don't charge half days.

Is the $255 from National before or after all the taxes and fees?
So far, the best bottom line rates I'm getting for 10 days are with Alamo. $267.28 for midsize. Got this rate thru Travelocity using no codes or discounts at all! Next best was National: $292.03 This price was with one code and once $15 off coupon (printed from their website).

I used the WWEB code, the Wagonlit code, and an upgrade coupon from the Entertainment book.

The rate usually goes up when I try to redo it.

sln88 , car rentals are charged in 24 hour periods. If you return the car 1 hour past the time you will be charged for an extra day. I suggest you check your reservation.

That is what I thought, I guess it is 10 24 hour periods.

I would definetly keep checking. We rented from Avis last year...Buick Century...full size...$152.99 base for a week....that's 20-something bucks a day. Can't imagine there's such a dramatic jump up during a 10-11 day span...although I could be wrong.

IMHO, you are still too far away to get a good price for Feb. I am leaving in Jan 04 and I need a van. The best I could find was $380 or so from Alamo. If you look at all of the different rental company's websites, you'll see that their current promos all expire in the middle of Dec. After Christmas and New Years are over, I'm hoping that I can get a good promo rate for my trip.

Just be patient and wait for a good price. Find the cheapest that you can find now and reserve it. You can always cancel later, just not the last minute. That way you have a ressie just in case the rate you have now turns out to be the cheapest. Keep looking though. Some of the websites are a little quirky and can sometimes spit out a lower rate one minute and then raise it the next.

Happy hunting and driving!

Thanks Jon. I realized that I am really looking to early to get a good promotion. I will keep checking.
