Is this a good price for a flight?

Southwest Airlines: $161.00 per adult each way from NY to Orlando. Trying to decide whether to book now or wait..... Thank you so much!

Personally we budget $300 for each ticket (granted we're Denver to MCO), so I think that's not bad. Also consider that you can watch the prices and get a credit for another trip (remember the credits are now tied to each individual person and must be used within a year of the change). I also think that's a pretty decent rate considering the free luggage!

Good luck!

You didn't give the exact dates but JetBlue has a number of flights from LaGuardia and JFK for $104-$114 in January.

Thank you so much for the info. I have never flown Jet Blue, but if you have had a good experience, I will certainly check it out. :)

We use Jet Blue all the time. We are going 12/3 to 12/10 from Syracuse on Jet Blue $225 round trip.

Love Jetblue - TVs for everyone, just bring headphones (or you can buy them for a couple of bucks on the flight)

I got tickets for $265 from NY to Orlando and was doing the happy dance!!! I once got $245, but that was two years ago.

Sounds like a great airline. Almost makes me nervous on what to expect with such a great price on flights. Hoping for no delays! :)

We fly Southwest frequently from Philadelphia to Orlando in January and I find I get the best price usually early to mid October for early January....so pretty much about 10 to 12 weeks out. I haven't ever paid more than $225 total round trip (and I only paid $225 maybe once). The past few years I've been able to get between $160 and $190 round trip for our January trips.....gone are those SWA days of $120 round trips PHL to MCO!!

Do you find a good selection of flights? I really want early AM and non stop. Thanks!

Just an FYI, not sure how far from Philly you are but I'm in southern NJ. PHL is our preferred airport but we have (and will be again this August) flown out of Baltimore. It's a 1.5 hour or less drive and its a major SW hub. We got a flight from BWI to MCO for $96 one way. Now that they own air tran there are even more flights options daily (compare to PHL) and you can use air trans website to "pretend book" to see seat selection to see how full a flight is to judge whether prices will go up or chance they go down. Flight was normally $130 but caught it on a sale. Fight back was $134. Philly prices started at $181 for each leg. With 6 people and over $100 savings per person, it's well worth the drive to Baltimore. You can also try spirit from Atlantic city. Spirit crams you in and limits your personal item size and charges for carry ons, but the flight prices can be well worth it. Orlando is a short enough direct flight that the cramped seat is tolerable for the cheap fare.

To the OP, it's not a bad price. Try using Kayak to compare prices with other carriers. Weigh the options of flight times and bag fees when deciding. Also join the SW frequent flyer club and you will get emails when they announce sales. You could always book just one way for now, and if the price drops you can cancel and rebook with no fee, and then use the fare difference (which will be SW credit) on the other leg. Also if the flight is operated by AirTran (it will say iron the website) make sure you book it from the SW website. You won't pay air trans bag fees this way. If you book with another site or through air tran, you are still subjected to bag fees.

We love JetBlue! We use them when flying to California from Seattle.

luckyman_apd....thanks for the tip but BWI is just a little too far for us....we're up in northeastern PA (halfway between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre) so PHL is just about a 2 hr drive. We actually have a regional airport (AVP) practically in our backyard, but, it's one of those "you can't get there from here" airports and takes about 8 hours and flying thru the midwest to get to Florida. In all fairness, AVP does have a twice weekly Allegiant flight, usually at very good prices, which we have used and had a good experience....only problem is...it's only available twice a week. We also have Lehigh Valley (ABE) an hour south of us...halfway between here and PHL.....we've used a mix of airlines from there....I believe Airtran was there for a very short period of time, Frontier also and now gone...and they also have an Allegiant flight a few times a week. But, we keep going back to SWA out of PHL and now with both Airtran and SWA available ......plus our son is moving to the Philly area next week.....so now we can stay at his place the night before and grab an early a.m. nonstop flight! We usually nab the first mid-day ns flight so we can leave our house about 7:30/8:00 a.m, get to PHL by 10:00 a.m. and still make it to MCO by 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. at the latest and get to WDW just in time for check-in.

Alleging air also flys out of Harrisburg to the Orlando area. Not MCO but only about 20 min from MCO. If you rent a car normally it could be a bargain. Check google maps. I have family in the Wilkes barre/forty fort area and I believe Baltimore is only like 30 min farther than Philly for them. Straight down 81

I would say that is a lousy flight cost from BUF to MCO. We fly Southwest out of Buffalo and typically pay between $90 and $135 each way. Just booked our return trip this morning and paid $94 per ticket for a Saturday nonstop flight on january 11th.

I have noticed that if you don't book flights when they first come out the prices creep up over time, but will eventually go on sale. Since we fly often I get the flights I want and the stalk prices and change my reservation if the price drops.

I try to get BWI to Orlando or DCA (Reagan) to Orlando for about $200-250pp/rt, but up to $300 is kind of in the realm of normal fares (and not too terribly high).

We've done SW and Jetblue...LOVE Jetblue!!! Flying AA to Miami in August...not sure what to expect there.

We also travel with Jetblue out of Syracuse. They have a direct flight to MCO. Their rates are reasonable most of the time, and each passenger gets their first piece of luggage with no charge; as well as a carryon. Tv's are onboard. Bring headphones! :thumbsup2

I'm a Syracuse flyer too!! Of course, most of my flights are expensive since I have to go around school breaks...but JetBlue is the only one I use and the direct flight is wonderful !!!
