This is our quote from WDW travel:

2 adults
Dec. 26 - Jan.1
Beach Club - standard room (not water view)
7 day park hoppers, plus dining plan
4100.

They said it could be "water view" for 4600.

I don't understand the math:
2 park hoppers should be around 300. each?
Expedia has that room at 475/night.

That's 600 for tickets, plus 2850. for the room = 3450. How much is the dining plan???

Thanks,

Susy

I believe the dining plan is $38 per adult per night. That would be $532. Disney may automatically add in travel insurance, which you can decline, but it might be included in your quote. Hope that helps.

Also, according to MouseSavers, 7 day hoppers would be $272 each. However, if you add no expiration, then it becomes $367 each. You might want to be sure you are comparing apples to apples in that regard.

We declined the 140. travel insurance, and we declined the upgrade to the park hoppers, so I don't understand why WDW is so much?

Should I just book the room on expedia, then call to add tickets and the dining plan? Is that even possible?

Thanks,

Susy

Could it have some thing to do with a higher rate for New Years?

 Is there any way you could go a little earlier and check in on/before 12/23, instead of the 26th?

The reason I ask is that there is a special package available for check-ins on/by December 23 (code ZDN) - and if you could check in on/by the 23rd, you would get the special rate all the way through to your 1/2/07 check out date, instead of paying the holiday rates:

Disney Special Dreams Offer
For check-ins 11/1/06-12/23/06 you can get a special discount on a Magic Your Way vacation package. 11/19/06-11/23/06 and 12/2/06-12/8/06 may be excluded from this offer. Some hotels may have limited or no availability for certain dates.

Prices start at $369 per adult based on double occupancy at a select Disney value resort in standard room, for a 5-night/6-day package. Prices for the same package start at $217 per Junior (ages 10-17), $176 per child (ages 3-9) when they stay in a room with two adults.

The discount can be applied to a regular Magic Your Way vacation package or to a Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining.

This package offer covers some of the same dates as the previous "Season of Dreams Package" offer and offers similar rates. However, in a few cases it seems rooms at certain hotels have been opened up for discounting that were not available with the previous offer.

You must book by 10/31/06. Requires a 3-night minimum stay. The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Tickets must be used within 14 days of first use unless you add the No Expiration option for an extra cost. No group rates or other discounts apply.
*******

(You can also just get a one day base ticket to fullfill the package requirements (must have at least one day base ticket plus hotel in order to add dining) if you want to purchase a hopper for the rest of the days, if that works out to be less expensive than including it with the package.)

Also if you want to forget the DDP (dining plan), and could check in 12/23 or before, you could try for the room-only special code BRY:

Room-Only Discount Codes

For check-ins 10/30/06-12/23/06 you can get a special discount on Walt Disney Resort hotels. 11/19/06-11/23/06 and 12/2/06-12/8/06 may be excluded from this offer. Some hotels may have limited or no availability for certain dates.

While this discount is valid at a variety of Disney Resorts, some sample prices/ night (excluding tax) include:

Wilderness Lodge with a court yard view for $245 (regular season) or $209 (value season)

Wilderness Lodge with a woods view for $210 (regular season) or $189 (value season)

Polynesian Resort with a garden view $304 (regular season)

Animal Kingdom Lodge with a pool view $205 (regular season)

Other resorts and room types are also available at varying discounts!
Book by 10/29/06. In some cases, AAA rates were better than the room-only discounted rates. Some blackout dates and other restrictions may apply. Discount codes must be thought of as a "clearance sale" -- if you want the discount, you have to be willing to take what's left over! It's important to be flexible with both dates and hotels, and to be persistent in calling back periodically to see if anything has opened up. This discount has limited availability.

You might call and have them price it out for you - it might be cheaper to go for 10 days than 7 if you could do the 12/23 date! :goodvibes

For the time of year, it sounds like a good deal. I can't get a price below $4777.50 through Disney for the criteria you've listed. Unfortunately, because you are checking-in during the "holiday" season, the room-rates are at their highest possible prices.

For comparison, the lowest prices at other available Deluxe resorts w/tks & DDP:

  • Wilderness Lodge - $4,226.32, Courtyard
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge - $4,423.16, Savannah
  • Yacht Club - $4,777.50, Standard
  • Polynesian - $4,966.50, Garden

If you book a room-only reservation through Expedia, it is not possible to add the Disney Dining Plan. I'm not sure, but I also believe that Expedia will force you to purchase tickets through their booking-engine at the end of the process- obviously a no go.

I'm confused..............you're saying that your room price according to Expedia is $475 per night for a total of $2850. When I did the math I got $3325 for 7 nights at $475 each. It's getting late and I'm half asleep at work, but someone please tell me that I'm not crazy!

I typed in my post OUR days for our trip, 12/26-1/2

The days for this ressie, which are for my brother in law and his wife are Dec. 26 - Jan. 1

One night less than we are staying - I typed jan. 2 incorrectly

However, I did it correctly on expedia and with disney travel, so those price quotes are what I got for six nights, seven days.

Thanks to all with advice and SORRY for being lame :guilty:

Susy

Here's what I calculate:

Room at Beach Club, 6 nights: 529.63 (475+54.63 tax)*6 nights = 3,177.78
7 day base tickets - 227.91 (incs tax)*2 people = 455.82
Dining plan - 38*2 people = 76*6 nights = 456.00

3,177.78 + 455.82 + 456.00 = $4,089.60 which is close to the $4,100 you listed as your quote.

To answer your original question, is this a good deal, well, it's all you're gonna get for that week. There are no discounts to be had for that week other than the small discount you get on your tickets for purchasing in advance. You're paying full rack rate and at the most expensive Holiday rate. If you checked in prior to 12/20, you could get the same room at the Value rate of $305, so in that sense, no, it's not a good deal. However, if that's when you want to go, i say go for it and have a great time! It's really pretty at Christmas. I would love to stay at BC someday!
