Is this a feasible plan??

We were talking today about how we aren't really "wild" about any of the CS places at MK, and how it might be just as well to hop on the monorail (or even the boat to WL) to a resort and eat in their food court...food might be about the same, but a little change of scenery maybe...or would it be too much trouble for naught? also thought about maybe trying to get a walk-up@GF Cafe...what do you guys think??

First I don't think the counter svc restaurants at the 3 monorail resorts are tempting. They are cafeteria style unless you want sit-down. I'd stay put over going to CR, Poly, or GF, and I've eyed all those resorts CS food. Personally, we really like Cosmic Ray's chicken Caesar salad. It's a deal compared to restaurants like TGI Friday's. Everyone can find something they'll eat, even if it's just a burger. If nothing else, have you tried a Casey's dog? This is a definite "don't knock it til you've tried it" item. Yes, $4 is steep for a dog, but dogs like are hard to come by.

To get to other resorts it's too much of an effort unless you want a decent break from the parks and/or you want to hop. Maybe going to the GF Cafe would be worthwhile if you want an excuse to visit the GF and to leave MK. Before I did that, though, I'd try to get into the Plaza Restaurant on Main St. The atmosphere is Victorian decor, and the food was really good when we went in Nov.

I think it depends on how much time you want to take. I agree with travelitis - food isn't any better at the resort food courts. But the resorts themselves can be sort of fun to visit. However, it will likely take an hour or more (you can walk to the Contemporary a little faster) to leave, eat, and come back.

I wouldn't think at lunch you'd have any trouble getting a walk up at the GF Cafe (provided they are open for lunch, some resort restaurants are and some aren't).

WL deosn't really have a food court, their only CS is more cafeteria style, and IMO more pricey than MK CS, which I am also not crazy about, but Cosmic Rays is the best of them.

Do you have park-hoppers? Another thought you might consider is taking the monorail to Epcot, you have a wide assortment good CS there at the world showcase, as well as in The Land pavillion.

Are you staying at MK from dawn till closing? If not, maybe you would be better using a TS for lunch, then heading to another TS for a late dinner, but splitting a plate? Or split plates at both lunch and dinner at a TS. You can't share at LLT, but your could at other MK TS's, or do one of the TS's at an MK resort and split meals there.

One more :goodvibes Are you on the dining plan? You could use two TS credits on your MK day, and do CS's on your Epcot day. The CS restaurants are really good there. Some of the resorts and DTD have great CS's that you could do instead of TS's on a day of your trip. I've read great reviews on Wolfgang Pucks, CSR's Pepper Market, BC's burgers, etc..

Hope that helps! :goodvibes

If you aren't too keen on the cs options and really wnat to ckeck out the other resorts then I would suggest hitting WCC for lunch at the WL or Trails End at FW. Both are ts and are pretty reasonably priced.

The Grand Floridian Cafe is open for lunch and is well worth leaving the MK I think.

Often you can walk up but there are times it is busy. But you can always make a reservation from the MK when you are ready to leave.

thanks so much for the replies...exactly the type of feedback i was looking for!! while we have tried caseys and i dont see us returning, i do like the idea of maybe the plaza(hasn't appealed to me, but now i will look into it more!), hopping to epcot (never even thought of this one!), and as previously mentioned, heading to the GF Cafe. Thanks so much for your opinions!! :goodvibes

Resort food is resort food, same no matter where you go....same as in the parks too.

If you are going to one of the MK resorts eat at Kona, 1900 Park Faire, Chef Mickeys, something more memorable.
