If you are a married female and took your husbands name your last name is different than the one on birth certificate. How does that work?
 
I usually just take a photo copy (not the original) of our marriage license, but I've honestly never had to show that to anyone.
I just always figure when I don't have it, then someone will want to see it so I usually take it with me!
 
No, it's not a dumb question. It <i><b>is</b></i>, however, a frequently asked question. (I need to add it to the FAQ at my site.)

No problem with your photo ID having a different last name. They expect that this will be the case for most married women. As long as the date of birth on your photo ID matches the date of birth on your birth certificate, you'll be fine. (It would also help if your first name matches.)
