Is this a Dream?

During our recent trip we saw plenty of winners (congrats all!) and were (or course) a little disappointed that we didn't "win" anything. However, then I got to thinking. 1) I got the 40% off code by calling last January to see if I had any codes in my name...still think that was a "dream" 2) at CRT we were given champagne flutes for our anniversary, and 3) at MGM DD was picked as the princess of the day for the Beauty and the Beast show and got the rose from the Prince. Now the 40% off was probably just good luck. But I was wondering about the other two. Are those technically dreams? They gave us YOMD certificates with our names on them. I thought that the champagne flute thing was just a nice anniversary perk (we had our buttons on) and that the MGM was just a nice perk for DD (I'm guessed that they always pick a girl to get a rose but since this is the first time in all our trips that I've actually seen the show- I don't know). But the certificates are throwing me....so DISers what is your opinion...did we get "Dreams"

I think so!

And brilliant, if you ask me, because these things cost them almost nothing but can be such a neat thing to happen to someone!

I had my own "dream" on my last visit.

We paid and were waiting for our food at Blizzard Beach, when all the employees started clapping.

We were like, "um, what?"

Then they told us that we got free dessert for our whole party - just bring the special tray right up after lunch! This was such a small thing - toll house ice cream sandwiches for four, but really very cool and we still think of it as a highlight of our trip!

Those are 'magic moments' as PART of the Year of a Million Dreams but they are not prizes as part of the Disney Dreams Giveaway.

"Technically" no, those are not "Dreams" those are Magical Moments... Most Magical Moments are planned events, like picking a child to be princess, guest condutcor on the railroad, being picked to be the Junior Cruise Director at Small World. These are things that the CM's do to create a little extra magic.

"Dreams" are technically only the "official prizes that are listed in the rules for the give away. The Dream Lanyards, Dream Ears, Dream Fastpasses, the trips, staying in the castle... anything that is considered a Prize for the sweepstakes.

The thing that is confusing is that there are two things going on. There is the celebration which is tagged "Where Dreams Come True" (Disney always has a tag line/theme for celebrations) ... then there is the Disney Dreams Giveway (Year of A Million Dreams Sweepstakes)

Well, no matter their official name they are still "dreams" to me! We just returned from our fab WDW vacay and we received 3! Due to our anniversary buttons we received two certificates celebrating our anniversary. In the Crystal Palace where we received the first we also got a special photo taken with Pooh and a cupcake with our table decorated.(They also brought 2 more for our children) In the American Adventure in Epcot we were lead to a phone where Mickey and Minnie congratulated us and we were taken in the elevator and allowed to enter first. Also, my children were stopped by a cast member in front of Peter Pan and were asked to sign his autograph book. He was so sweet! He allowed my children to take their time and told them it would go in a vault and be saved. They felt so special! My 3 year old was wearing a Ratatouille shirt and my 6 year old a Pirates of the Caribbean. We saw him a few times after that and he said "Hi Ratatouille!" or "Hey Captain Jack Sparrow!" And one of our favorite moments was not an official dream or celebration. The last day in Magic Kingdom our 3 year old was dressed in his Peter Pan costume to meet his favorite character and a couple of other guests stopped us and asked to take their picture with him. It made his day! So official or not we had a very magical vacation!

As they should be :) To many people over look the little things that the CM's do because they didn't get a "Dream"... everything is "Magical" and when they do something as you described it is to make your vacation a little more memorable. I am sure that the people that post about how they were disappointed because they didn't "get" anything probably had something small occur that they overlooked because it was not something tangable!

Glad you had a great trip :wizard:

We were at the World in Feb and we got 3 extra special moments! My kids were thrilled, but I bet I was even more excited! I bet a lot of you other adults out there know what I mean!:cheer2:
1) Our first day there we went to AK and when we were waiting in line for one of the Dino kiddie rides a CM came up and asked if we wanted to be a VIP family. We got a certificate, the kids got masks, they announced us while we were on the ride and then we got to play a couple games free.

2) We were walking up to get in line for the Buzz light year ride at the MK and a CM came up and gave us a pass to go to the front of the line. It was not very long but it was more the excitement of it!

3) At WS is Epcot a CM gave me 2 free Tinkerbell pins because my daughter and I were both wearing our Tink shirts. She asked if I wanted them and I said "how much?" LOL She was like- Free and something about making my wishes come true.

I am so excited to go back, but it looks like we will have to wait until NEXT feb (09) that is too long away!

Cant wait to read everyone elses special suprises!pirate:

Thanks for the thoughts. Magical moments or Dreams...they were still special to us. On top of the stuff I listed above, we also were brought over a special dessert at every one of our dinner ADRs. We go to Disney every year on our anniversary but never wore the buttons before. Boy to the CMs go out of their way when they know it's a special occassion.
