Is this a dealbreaker for anyone else??

A balcony isn't a dealbreaker for me. It's too hot down there to use, anyway. Besides, every time I've stopped at the Poly, it's smelled...bad. Kind of a damp, sweet mildewy kind of smell. I think it's all the plants they've got there.

On the other hand, I'd be very happy if I were ever able to score a solo reservation at the CR that didn't cost an arm and leg. That's the resort that has always said "Disney" to me. Smells better, too.

thats kind of what I am thinking and why I am leaning towards garden wing. with the summer discount it is 220 per night which is reasonable, esp that close to MK

that is a great rate for the CR - so would do it.

Balconies are nice - but only if you use them. since you will be spending most of your time in the parks or swimming pools - might go w/o for that price.

being able to walk to the MK and only paying $220 per night is a great deal.

If you post in the DVC threads on here, there are people all the time willing and needing to rent points out. Usually about $10/point. The cost would be far far less than booking it with cash.

BLT sells out faster than the others except BCV.

now you can get AKV, SSR and OKW for $10 a point. but it is not quite that easy with BLT.

Now VWL you might.

having a balcony is one reason we started going deluxe vs moderate. There is nothing worse than young kids needing to sleep early in the evening, and being tied to sitting in the room, quiet as church mice. At least you can sit out on a balcony, chat, have a glass of wine...

I am now debating between garden wing or tower room...I would only do tower room if we could afford theme park view....I have two thoughts on it, one we are not in the room a lot so garden wing would be great to be close to MK, two we are only doing four nights so might be only time to splurge on theme park view....augh decisions.

I do like having a balcony to sit outside while our kids are asleep! mind you when we stayed at the poly we all crashed at the same time!!!

I totally get what you're saying -- with young kids it is very nice having a balcony especially when the kids are in bed or napping. My kids are a bit older now, but we still love having balconies. DH will sit out there and make all of his work phone calls during the day or early mornings.

If you can make the splurge, a tower room at CR is very nice. We've done this 2 or 3 times. We've also stayed in the wing and didn't really care for it much, but it was mainly just booked to go to the Halloween party at MK as we wanted to utilize the walking path to MK, so we just stayed for 2 nights and didn't go into it with high expectations to love the wing. Let me also say that the bay view room in the tower is beautiful and you can watch the water parade from the balcony. I believe that is less money than the MK view, sorry if I'm wrong on that.

We are balcony people, so yes, it would be a dealbreaker. If I pay deluxe prices I want my balcony time!
