Hi everyone, our family DW & DD age 13 are going on our first ever Disney cruise this April. After watching the Disney DVD we received the orther day my DD said that it looks like there is not alot of things for her to do on the ship. Well what I'm asking is for the familys that have a 13 yr. old, did they meet up with anyone their own age? Did they have fun being away from the family on the ship and at Castaway Cay?

Now our ds was 13 in June when we went and He had a blast.
I don't know how different it is for the girls, but he was in a group of about 7-8 which included 3 girls I think.

Ds is very social. He is an only child but does very well meeting people.

I barely saw him the entire time. This little group hung out together most of the time whether it was in or out of the stack. They did some of the activities for the teens.

Check out the teen navigators. I'm not sure what they really did, I pray that they were in control. But he can not wait to go back. He still e-mails one of the girls and one of the boys from the group.

Hope this helps!

My neighbors have a 13 year old girl and a 15 year old boy that went last year and they both had a great time.

My twin DDs are 11, and I am also concerned about what it will be like for them when they are 13. So far, we all love the DCL so much and have gone every year since 2000. I am not sure what will happen when they turn 13 though. We may give it a try for a 3 or 4 night cruise to see if they still like it when they no longer have the Lab activities.

My DD was 13 on our first cruise and 14 on our 2nd cruise ... both times she had no problems ... met new people, made friends, and pratically lived in the teen club except for when the counselors thew 'em out :teeth:

The list of things my 13 year old DIDN't find time to do on board is longer than the long list of things she did find time to do. And she never stepped foot in the kids clubs.

My DS 13 was not interested in the teen club and did not attend on our cruise. He mainly played basketball and the video games.

Go to the cruise meet board above and try to hook up with a family that has a child(ren) your kids age. They could e-mail before and make a new friend before you go. Also, you might be able to link dinner ressies with them and they could meet at dinner.

We have done 12 cruises on the Magic. DD chose to celebrate her 13th birthday on the ship and absolutely LOVED The Stack. We do tend to travel "off season" when there are smaller numbers of teens, but she's always found plenty to do both in and out of the programming. DOn't miss the "Gotcha" game.

Thanks for all the info! We will try the cruise meet board too, Also do you know if they pair you with a family that has a child the same age as your one?
