Is there such a thing as too many character breakfasts?

If I have a character breakfast every morning would that bore the kids? Would they get character overload?

I know that my boys (5 and 9) still love the characters and wouldn't get overloaded by them alone. However, I know from experience that character breakfasts tend to take up a good amount of time which we later felt would have been better spent touring the parks and riding rides while the crowds were at their lowest levels. You can avoid that by going before park opening, but we didn't want to have to get up even earlier than we did to make it by park opening. We usually stay at the parks until closing, so we like to let the boys sleep as long as possible. Also, the days we did the character breakfasts, we tended to skip lunch because we were still full and later had character dinners. We were on the dining plan, so we had tons of CS left over. We now try and only do one TS a day or do breakfasts on our departure day when we won't be having dinner at WDW.

We booked every character meal that we thought would interest our three sons. I figure when else will they get to dine with their favorite characters except for this great trip to Disney.

We do not stand in line for characters, so the character meals are our chance to take pics and get autographs. That being said, breakfasts do take quite a bit of time in the morning and I always feel rushed when we do them. Also, the kids aren't big breakfast eaters and we NEVER get our money's worth out of them.

It's much easier for me to do a character meal for lunch or dinner as those are the times I'm ready to cool off and relax. In the morning we are too excited and pumped up to get going and get on some rides. We usually eat poptarts or cereal and fruit for breakfast and then either have a big lunch or big dinner.

Of course, we have done many breakfasts over the years and have finally just decided that they really aren't worth it for our family. Ohana's breakfast is our favorite and if I go back to any of them it would be that one. But we would do it on a day when we don't have a park planned and aren't in a hurry.

I would be more worried about FOOD overload!!!

We tend to do one character breakkie every two days on our trips. One year, we had one planned every day, and we felt as though we were waddling around the parks instead of touring! :lmao:

That being said, time was never an issue for us when it came to character breakfasts. We always enjoy having a nice big breakkie because that way we don't have to worry about lunch or even dinner until much later on in the day!

I agree! Depends on how many days you want to spend, what, $14? for your kids to eat cereal or one donut. :earsboy:

My kids, DD11 & DS8, never get bored of character meals. The above reason about taking up prime touring tme in the parks is why we do a character dinner almost every night, rather than breakfast.

We do a character dinner each night except for the nights we go to WCC (and last month we tried Boma & Le Cellier).

We're actually doing 5 character meals for an 8 night stay but only 2 breakfasts and they're on a down day and our last morning before we leave. One of the 3 for dinner is Mickey's Backyard BBQ so that experience will be different too.

We did character meals almost every day of our 7 day trip in January with DD4 and DS2. IMO it was lots of fun and we would do it again! But I would do more lunches or very early dinners because my kids are not huge breakfast eaters and it seems they were hungry before lunch when we did breakfast. So if your kids eat better at lunch or dinner, you might change some to later in the day, but I don't think you can see too many characters! Have a great trip!

For us every day would be too much. We like to mix it up as well with occasional character dinners. The other issue is that with all the characters circulating it's very hard to eat a meal, take pictures, get autographs, etc. The biggest issue though is that getting an early start at the parks makes a huge differnce on how many rides we go on per day so we don't want to spend that prime time in a restaurant. There is the option of eating before the parks open but we don't like waking up an hour early to do that either. Over 6 days we typically do 2 breakfasts--1 early (O'Hana) and 1 latest possible (CRT). For our upcoming trip we all agreed to cut out CRT and have some Mickey waffles at our resort instead--usually we do a grab and go breakfast. From our last trip my kids (6 and 8) favorite meal was Le Cellier so you just never know what is going to be a big hit.

I'm a real Disney nut - we visit at least 4 times a year - and I love almost all things Disney. But, IMHO anything more than one Character Breakfast is too much. Really, they are pretty much the same - some difference in characters - so I don't think the experience is worth repeating in the same visit.
