Is there still a Passholder discount at merchandise stores?

I've been using the Magic Band exclusively. If there is a discount, why doesn't it register with the Bands. It is something that just dawned on me.

I think I read somewhere that you still have to show your actual AP card to get the merchandise discount. Perhaps this is something they still need to sort out with the magic bands.

Just got home today, we had to present our paper AP and photo ID to get the discount.

I asked if they could see it with our magic bands and the cast member said they are working on it but it just hasn't been ready yet! He said all the merchandise CM's hope they roll it out soon.

Well it is a work in progress for sure. I tried to buy a TIW card at a Guest relations, and they did not have the where with all to read the band which had my credit card information....so, it meant a trip back to the room. CM did ask if I had my room key, but why would I have that when the band opens our door!

I hope, expect to get a comment card, I will have lots to say!!

Yes, I also encountered this last month. And also, remember, if you have the Disney Visa card, you have to present the actual card to get their discount (plus ID). The CM at WOD told me that that's one of glitches of the system. Except for using as a room key and FP, I really don't see any benefit of the MagicBand. I find myself carrying and needing all the cards I did before-TIW, DVC, AP, and ID.
