I only have 50 pics on my memory card. I don't want to buy a new stick with more pics because I want to buy a new camera soon. Is there somewhere to download onto a cd in Disney World?

Thanks.

You can do it at Walmart, my friend does it there all the time and then prints her pics right away there as well.

I know you can do this at Epcot.

I forget the name of the building, but I think it's after the ride in Imagination.

In the MK on main street beside Tony's there is a Kodak Center. You can download your pictures onto a CD. It doesn't take that long. We just did it last month. Not sure of the cost. I am sure there are Kodak centers at all the parks that you can do this at.

It'd be cheaper to buy a new memory card. Not sure about your camera but I'd check the prices on a 512MB or 1GB SD (usually $50-$60 for a 1GB card), CompactFlash, MS, or XD card. If you know what kind of camera you new one will be you might get luck and use the same type of memory.

Here are some prices on flash memory:

And I wonder if the Kodak Kiosk will let you just copy to a CD without buying prints? It doesn't say nor do they list their pricing:

I'm currently looking for the same info.

I was told that only place to have this done was at Magic Kingdom. But am now hearing that there's one in each park.

When I had it done last year, it was $12 and they put all 166 of my photos on a CD in about 20 minutes. It was very convenient. I plan to have about 4 of them made this year. (Yes, I take a LOT of photos)

One thing to remember: a poster a while back said that he/she transferred her pictures onto a disc at WDW only to find (once at home) that the pictures somehow did not transfer and her disc was blank. He/she suggested that you check the disc before you leave the place that does the CD's to make sure the pictures are, in fact, on the CD. Then you can erase the pictures on your memory card and carry on taking more pictures! :thumbsup2

So you are going to spend $44 bucks plus the time it takes to burn the CDs. If you see the newegg.com link above you can get a 1GB SD etc. card for right around $50. Plus you'll get use out of it when you get home. Each CD can store 650 to 700 MB of data.

If your camera takes 8 megapixel images then each photo is around 3 MB. Multiply that by 166 photos and you have about 500 MB of photos. If your camera is less than 8 megapixels (which most are) than you have a lot less storage needs. So if you have a 4 or 5 megapixel camera you can store 500 to 1000 photos on a 1GB card. Assuming each photo is 1 to 2 MBs.

I'm lucky in that I bring my laptop with me and download all my images that night or the next morning. I then burn them to CD's because I'm paranoid. This year I hope our time share has broadband (they have been promising). If they have this then I'll upload them to my server.

I bought a 1 gig memory card for my camera for this trip. I got it at Buy.com for only $59.99. Definitely worth the money since you can do high res pictures this way and especially since I also like to do video clips. If you do wind up getting a new camera just make sure the new camera uses the same media.

Luckily DD is bringing her laptop, so we will burn & clear each night as needed. I have had the blank CD situation occur in the past as well...kicker is, it was DH who did it, & didn't notice until he erased pics from memory card :sad2:

Yikes, I double check photos after transferring to laptop and double check photos on CD after a burn...then I erase my memory card! :badpc:

I have a 512MB card; it cost $89 for the card my camera takes. I take 7MP photos. The card holds about 166 photos. I'll take that many photos in about a day and a half. It makes more sense to pay $48 for 4 CDs than $270 for 3 more 512MB memory cards or for 2 1GB cards or whatever. Last year it only took about 20 minutes to make a CD, it was all very convenient.

I'm going to bring my iPod - listen to music on the plane, & then download pictures to it when my camera gets full. If you (or anyone you're going with) has an MP3 player, that might be a good option.

You can have them put on a CD at all the parks just check with guest relations they will send to the right place. We downloaded ours at Magic Kingdom, MGM, and I think at Epcot. Not sure here at in Animal Kingdom
but i know that you can do it. The downloaded cd is about 12.99 I think.

Sorry forgot to tell you dont do the download your self go were the cm does it for you you can also check the disc there to be sure the pictures are all there before you delete. I think all the parks is where you pick up your pictures that have been taken during the day.

You can get a 1GB card for less than you are paying for a 512MB card. I'm not sure where you are buying your memory but I would stop buying from them as they are gouging you. You are paying 2x what you should for memory.

Anyway the CD's are a good idea also for nothing else then a good backup.

No, the memory stick I bought was pretty much the same price everywhere. I shopped around. I buy the Sony Memory Stick Pro for my Sony Cybershot.

I paid $89 a year ago at Circuit City. Now, I see the same stick is $64.99 and a 1GB is $89. They have 256MB sticks for $39.99, but that would only hold about 80 photos. So, paying $48 for 4 CDs will work out the best for me because I expect to take more than 500 photos this vacation.
