I heard that there is a gourmet mcdonalds on disney property. Is that really true? Do they have a website or a menu online?

I don't think there's one on site, but there IS one on Sand Lake Rd. I'm not a McD's fan, but we were pleasantly surprised by their gourmet offerings. :)

Someone is pulling your mouse ears

There is a very large McDs on property - down the road past Blizzard Beach - it has a huge movie screen inside and they show cartoons. This does not have the bistro menu. We always get "normal McD's food" there... many times just drive through after mini golf.

There is a McDonald's Bistro on Sand Lake near International Drive. I think it is advertised as one of the largest McDs. The entire upstairs is an arcade area much like Chuck E Cheese.

Here is the link to the Bistro menu for this location - http://www.mcfun.com/images/menu_sandlakeroad.pdf

Here is the link for all of them in the Orlando area - http://www.mcfun.com/menu.shtml

We sometimes go to that big McD's by All Stars b/c DD has received some awesome happy meal toys there! It is a different menu, augmented by desserts you never see at other McD's etc.

I saw a show on the travel channel about the Mickey D's in Orlando. Apparently there are 19 that are owned by the same person and most of them have themes. I remember the largest one on Sand Lake has a 50's theme. There were also a roman theme, sports, Orlando Magic, etc...
You can read a small blurb about these 19 restaraunts if you do a search for Oerther Foods McDonald's Orlando. I can't put in links but this is the site that will tell you all about the Mickey D's in the area.
I think the next trip to WDW I will take a quick trip and check some of them out.
You can also download the Bistro menu that some of the restarants have. The Panini sandwiches sound nice. Peggie

I knew there were the 2 on property. I did not know that all McDonalds across the country didn't have the same menu's.

The Bistros still have the normal McDs menu and then a separate area for the Bistro menu - at least the Sand Lake Rd location is like this. We go there frequently if we are doing something around the I-Drive atractions. DD loves the arcade area upstairs complete with prizes you can get with the tickets you win.

We've often eaten at the European Gourmet Bistro location on West Sand Lake Road. (Not the world's largest one which is at the corner of I-Drive and Sand Lake.) Normally, I will not set foot in a McDonalds but this one has a very nice selection of panini sandwiches, pastas, gourmet burgers (thick, juicy, made to order). I even had a very good grouper sandwich on one visit. They also have made to order omelettes at breakfast. It's a two level restaurant with an elevator. Upstairs they have pool tables and video games for the kids, although my kids' main source of entertainment is generally the talking garbage can! It's definitely worth a stop if you're in the Universal/Sea World/I-Drive area.

I thought the menu was only slightly different then a regular McD's. Nothing really exotic.

Now they did sell McDonalds merchandise. Imagine that! Selling stuff themed to the location you happen to be at. Now that never happens at WDW :rotfl2:

Correct, the one with the gourmet offerings is the one on sand lake rd west of I-4, the one on sand lake rd east of I-4 is the one with the world's largest playplace with the huge arcade, this one offers pizza and is usually a madhouse, there's a bunch of other ones in the area with all kinds of themes, I like the gourmet one myself, it's nice in there, with some different things to try!!!

Here is the one up the road further on Sandlake called "Sand Lake Too"... but this is the more "upscale" location - they are less than 1 mile apart.
