Is there really a difference where on the Boardwalk you are?

Hi gang,

I am hoping to get a Boardwalk View room at 7 mos.... I know it might not happen but I am going to try. What I am curious is -- is there a big difference in view depending on where you are on the Boardwalk -- is one area more preferable to another? I know there aren't different buildings etc but I am including a map and there are marker numbers for various shops, etc... where do you guys think you get the best view?

Sorry the numbers are hard to read.... they start with 12 nearest the Lobby 13 14... onward to 16 being the last number on the actual Villas

Generally speaking, the higher up and farther down the hall you are - the better view you have of fireworks. But the less convienent you are to the elevator, pool or lobby. The rooms high up and on the end are beloved - but I suspect most of us who love them are good taking five flights of stairs up and down a few times of day.

Lower floors and closer to the lobby have better pool, lobby and bus access. DHS is a shorter walk from the far end - but Epcot and the bus stop are closer to the lobby.

Lower can be a little noisier as well - though it seems to bother some people more than others. The Boardwalk can get loud at night and having a room right over Big River Brewing can let you listen into facinating conversations from your balcony at midnight......

I agree with the previous post. What is important to you should be a factor in asking for a particular room location. I too prefer the far end to the building toward Atlantic Dance Hall (your location 16). I think the view is better from there.

Remember, requesting a room location is noted, but never guaranteed.

Have a great time. :woohoo:

I've been on enough trips to know it's not guaranteed; I was simple curious since we have never even visited BW if any area was more coveted than another... :thumbsup2 I'll be happy just to get a BW view booked if at all possible :)

About how long of a walk is it from the lobby to the coveted rooms closer to the Dance Hall? We're fully able bodied but you know sometimes those walks at the very end of the night can feel like forever :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I walk briskly but don't race. To get to the end of the BW view rooms hallway from the elevator (rooms x001) took me about 2½ minutes. I am 63 and it doesn't bother me in the least. I think that the issue is WAY overblown. We have had walks of similar distance at several other DVCs. The only problem would be if you are hauling a bunch of stuff, but we choose to use bell services in that case.
For the record I also think that the difference in quality of view between rooms close to the elevator and rooms at the end of the hallway (farthest from the elevator) is also WAY overblown. We have stayed in BW view rooms 25 times or so and we have been satisfied with the view in all rooms except the studio part of one particular 2 bedroom. I am sorry that I don't remember the number. But I wrote to Member Satisfaction to state that that particular studio should never be rented as a BW view but only rented as part of a 2 bedroom BW view. Instead of a railing that studio has a ledge on the balcony that is about 4½ feet tall and a foot thick. It is almost impossible to see anything on the BW from that balcony.

I think we had the 1 bedroom attached to that studio over Thanksgiving last year. If you sat in a chair on the balcony, you could only see the solid balcony wall and the sky. If you wanted to see the actual boardwalk, you had to stand up. It was very close to Atlantic Dance Hall. We did have a great view of the EPCOT ball and the fireworks - we just had to stand up to see everything!

There are a number of BW rooms, especially on the second floor, with solid walls about 3 feet high instead of railings. But the studio I am referring to had a wall that is much higher than that and it also had a ledge that was very deep, about a foot or so. Only a standing adult could see over the top. I wish that I had taken a photo and written down the room number. The attached 1 bedroom had the shorter wall, I believe, or maybe a railing, so we weren't impacted. We don't book studios anymore but I would be very upset to get that studio if I booked a BW view.
