A friend just emailed me and said Disney just informed her of a 30% increase on the family suite rate. From $185 per night value season to $280 per night value season. That seems steep to me. Guess this is like the stroller thing:confused3 I feel bad because I suggested these rooms to her. Anyone else hear wind of this?

That sounds really high and a huge increase....geez, you could practically stay at the Poly, or at least at SSR or OKW. I think a 1 bedroom at OKW during Value season is like $260.

Wow -- is that for 2009? If I were your friend I would look into renting DVC points for the next stay!

I doubt it. First, Disney doesn't change the rates mid-year that I have ever heard of so it must not be for 2008,

Second, 2009 rates have not been released. My understanding is people are booking for 2009 but are being charged peak season rates for the deposit as an estimate no matter when their reservation actually is.

This must be the case. I will let her know. Thanks.

$280 sounds completely ridiculous, especially given the current downturn in the travel industry...

i can't imagine that's what it's actually going to cost....no way would i pay $280 for a family suite...i'd go off property before i'd pay that...

If that's true, it's unbelievable. Disney FINALLY does something for larger families on a budget so they can stay on property and then they raise the rate to almost as much as a deluxe????? Now???? Dumb.

If they did raise them that high, they better provide more amenities for these people at the All Stars, because well, it's still the All Stars resort right?? $280 a night to stay for a value resort, you could get a cabin at Ft. Wilderness for that and the full kitchen to boot!
