Is There One "Disney-Blu-ray" Club That is Better to Join Than Another ?

Oy !

Frankly, I'm a little befuddled ! ( ;) )

Yes, I know that their similarity will be that I'll receive 5 (plus one at at half price, with pricing for shipping and handling that just happens to be twice the rate that it usually is..... :sad2: )

But, that being said, are there some Disney Blu-ray clubs that are superior to the others that are available ?

What have your experiences been ?

Is it better to join a club that has ALL varieties of movies, or is "Disney only" (the stuff we like) the way to go ?

Any opinions would be appreciated. :smickey

P.S. Disney Blu-ray is all we are interested in.....

P.P.S. ((sheesh ! Fellow DIsney fans ! Blu-ray is *incredible* ! It's like the difference between glass and diamonds ! The players have gotten cheap ! $150.00 will buy you something decent ! And now the discs are available at Redbox and Blockbuster Kioskas

When we've looked at the movie clubs they are never a good deal for us. We do better just buying the ones we want on Amazon. We have gotten some great deals on blu rays there.

We've had our BR player since Nightmare Before Christmas came out on BR. We bought it to watch that movie in BR and the difference is amazing. Of course, now we are replacing all our favorite movies.

I'm thinking of getting a Blu-ray Player for Christmas. I saw a Blu-ray Player at my local Walmart marked down to $60 (originally $90). I don't know if that means if it is a good player or not.

With so many movies coming out on Blu-ray now, I might want to make the switch. I'm going to buy the Cars 2 combo pack, so it will have a Blu-ray and DVD packed in the case.

Deep Discount DVD is another great online source for good prices on Blu Ray. I've picked up some good buys at Walmart too. They have a $10 rack that has some good stuff.

Disney does not discount, sadly. They also force you to buy a regular DVD and a digital copy with most of their titles. I don't need those and I'd love to just get the blu ray and not have to pay for the other 2.

The best Disney blu-ray club is none of them. They are all a gimmick and ultimately cost you a lot more money than buying them in store or from Amazon. Once you get past that initial offer that is a deal you are hit with the recurring automatic purchase requirements and they charge you full MSRP on those - so in the $40 range for a bluray you can get for $20 at Target even without a coupon. Disney gives so many coupons with new releases and the existing catalogue goes on sale regularly on Amazon or at Target or other retails there is absolutely zero reason to join a club that is going to fleece you for double the price.

Join the blu-ray.com forums and set price tracking on your favorites and keep with the Hot Deals forum on that site and you'll save a lot of money in the long run.

That's a great idea! Thanks for the tip!

You might want to join the Disney Movie Rewards Club. www.disneymovierewards.com

It's free and for every DVD or Blu-Ray that you buy, you get points, which you can redeem for pins, tzochkes, etc.

They've even also sent me free Blu-Rays on my birthday! :goodvibes

ITA...it's free and you get points for Disney movies you buy, no matter where you buy them from. I'm saving my points for the DHS Behind the Scenes tour. Only need 14,000 more points! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 Amazon & Target have the best deals- plus there's usually a Disney coupon available on line or through Disney Movie Rewards.

I've been a member of this for years. Free, just type in the "codes" inside the cover of all your Disney movies and rack up the points. I've gotten pins, DVDs and more.
Way better than joining a club where you are obligated to make purchases.

Sounds good, but maybe just a little bit of a royal pain in the pa-toot.

(Pardon my coarse language) :tilt:

It's tempting just to buy them "used" from Amazon. But of course you never know what you're going to get. (Like the infinitive I just split...) ;)

Plus, it's hard to imagine people selling their copies of 'top titles' like "The Lion King". Not that it doesn't happen, it's just the copy you receive is most likely from a clearing house or some overstock company.

The good thing with Bluray is that it is much, much more durable than DVD ever was, so they are much harder to scratch, much harder to damage than a DVD so there should be less of an issue with used Blurays than there are with used DVDs, or rentals. I've never gotten a scratch Blu from Netflix but have had to send back more than a few DVDs that wouldn't play.

Are the Blu-Rays the same as the commercially available releases? With the Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Copy? Thanks.
