Is there enough things for 3 year olds to do at MGM?

We're going in April, and just wondering if we should make MGM a park we visit. We are going for 7 days, so we have the time, but don't have hoppers and wondering if there is enough to do for a whole day? We also made reservations at SCI-FI for dinner. Do you thing it is worth a TS credit (have the dining plan?) Our two children are 3 1/2 years old (twins). Thanks, Linda

My youngest is almost 3, and she was fine for an entire day at MGM. However, we have older children, and she *thinks* she is 12!

Check out the list of shows on the Disney site, see if there are a ton that your kids would be interested in seeing. My gut instinct is to tell you to do half a day at MGM though.

My 3 year old LOVES MGM! - we see tons of characters, see Playhouse Disney, see Beauty and the Beast show, voyage of the little mermaid, play in the imation studio, eat at Pizza Planet, and watch the afternoon parade among other things. For us it's a park that we are there for the opening and leave around 5 or 6. It makes a full day, but we can get a great nights sleep and then do the MK from opening to close the next day.

My 4 year old ranks MGM as her least favorite park. She'll play on the HISTK playground, and she likes to do the character meets. She's not crazy over shows though, and doesn't meet the height requirement for any rides other than GMR (which barely qualifies as a ride, LOL). It's a half day park for us, at best. She's into collecting autographs now, so we'll go for half a day on our next trip to do the character meets, and we'll probably return one evening for Fantasmic.

Sci-Fi she could take or leave. My older boys love it though, so when they're along we eat there. I don't know that I'd use TS credits for dinner though. We do lunch and split appetizers, or maybe burgers, and have milkshakes. With just DD and I, if we were on the DDP, we'd most likely do Holly & Vine's new character lunch instead.

Maybe you could plan it as an 'easy' day? Sleep in and head to the park a little later. If your kids won't sleep in, maybe spend the morning at the resort, let them swim or something? Unless your kids are really into shows, I don't think you'd need an entire day there. If they wouldn't be scared Fantasmic is worth seeing though.

In my opinon, no. I think Playhouse Disney and Muppets 3D about sums it up for that age group.

We went last week with a four year old and had allotted an entire day for MGM. We arrived at 9:30, did Playhouse Disney, The Little Mermaid, Star Tours, had an hour long lunch at the Sci Fi, toured the Narnia exhibit, and were out of there by 12:30 because there really wasn't anything else to do. Beauty and the Beast was closed the day we went, much to our disappointment.

Well if you are like us, and go back to the resort for nap, MGM is great. Everything with a three yr old takes time. We are never to the park at opening, (not because we don't try to be) and hurrying the kiddo just doesn't work. We usually skip the parade because we are back at the resort by then.
When we return to the park after nap, we make fantasmic dinner reservations at Hollywood & Vine; not because they have the best food, but because it is the easiest table service dinner since we can get eating quickly, with healthy food choices.
Our 3 yr old has also enjoyed the Great Movie Ride, and the Back Lot Tour as well as the already mentioned attractions. The play area of "Honey I shrunk the kids" is also a good time for a few minutes.
You'll have a lot to do. Relax, enjoy! Definately do not skip this park, it has a lot to offer.

Off the top of my head, I'd guess Playhouse Disney, Muppets 3D (Although it may be a little scary at that age- Sweetums is kinda creepy to a kid), the HISTK playground, and maybe Voyage of the Little Mermaid are your best bets. Ooh, and the parade!

It may be a good option to combine MGM with a resort rest day, or Downtown Disney, as others have suggested. Usually by day 3 or 4 of a 7 day trip, you can really use a "down" day!

Ours liked Playhouse Disney, the Narnia Exhibit, Muppets 3D, Lights Motor Action, Star Tours, Backstage Tour, HISTK playground, and meeting all the characters from what I remember. We can usually spend a day there without any problems.

Besides MK, MGM is my DD's favorite park. We could go into Playhouse Disney all day if she wanted to.

Plus there's the Ariel show right across the way that amazes them.

There's the Muppets 3D that all kids like. Right outside the show is Al's Toy Barn where the Toy Story figures can be seen for pictures. Grab a pizza over at pizza planet. maybe get a tattoo of your favorite character for $5 right near the muppet's fountain.

Don't forget the Honey I shrunk the kids play area...be ready to run around with them. there's an area to the left that's for littler kids, but the film slide is always a winner.

Not to mention the character meet and greats - If your kids like Cars or Monsters Inc. this is the only park you can see Mater, Lightening McQueen, Mike and Sully. Not to mention the Incredibles in the animation building.

There's also a man named Andy Mation who does balloon characters every half hour in the playhouse disney area. Ask a CM where he is - interesting just to watch him create the characters out of balloons even if you don't get one. Oh, and don't ask him for one - he only does one a viewing..

Plus you have to go to Hollywood and Vine for breakfast - Jojo, Goliath, Leo and June from the Little Einsteins are there. Great interaction with the kids with singing and things like that.

Later in the day there's the car parade which is really neat. Cars designed just like their characters' show. Grab an ice cream over at Gertie the dinosaur while you wait for the parade infront of the hat.

I wouldn't waste your TS credits on a dinner at Sci-Fi; their food is definitely not worth it.

According to DD (4), MGM is the "bad Disney". She's more into rides, not so much shows. We don't go there anymore...will just wait until she's older and try again.

We didnt have a problem spending a day there with our 4 year old. He rode everything but RNR. I felt it had the best character interaction for little ones of all the parks. We met the most characters there - Power rangers, Mater, Lightening Mccqueen, Sully and Mike, Einstiens, Kim possible and Ron Stoppable, Sow Queen, Marry poppins and penguins, Storm Troopers and Darth Vader. The list goes on. It was personally one of my fave parades. the characthers actually walked up to us posed for pics and shook hands with people. If you get done early make the afternoon evening quiet time and hang by the pool and explore your resort.
